Ray,
Couldn't agree with the guys above more!!! What a great story. Brought tears to my eyes!! That towel wasn't really that bad. Probably a good thing that you burned it though Rod. Hope the rest of your fishing trips are as much fun.

Couldn't agree more with the people above.
Heck of a port, awesome tournament, and the Salmon Slam was great.
Look forward to doing again next year. Hopefully the weather will be a little better.
Thanks to all who were involved in all the events!!!!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to wait and see what happens this weekend, if anything, and proceed from there. Hopefully nothing comes from this.
Good luck to all who are fishing this weekend and next week.

This is a sad day for all of us that fish on lake O. Joe and Shirley are a wealth of information for all of us that live far from the Oak. My deepest sympathy to Shirley and the rest of the family and all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Heres hoping that the fishing is as good in heaven as at the Oak.

Thanks Joe and Shirley for your wonderful site. I look at it all the time here in Erie and can't wait for summer to come so we can come up and fish. The oak is a great port and has some great fishing too !!!
Thanks again.

I have sent 2 messages from the contacts section of the kingofthelake page and have not gotten a response. Does anyone else know of another way to get in contact with Yvan and get entered?
Thanks in advance.

I like to run a flasher fly combo when running copper.

Chowder,
I think Bill is talking about using big boards. We have not had any problems ruuning copper off the big boards. I agree with most above and recommend getting a 600' set up and marking every 50 or 100 feet. You can run whatever length you want and don't need as many setups.

Thanks Rod they sure do bring back some great memories. Won't be long and all of us will be at it again.

Rick,
Awesome. We all need to be reminded every so often.
Thanks,

A few years ago we started antler restrictions. Can be frustrating at times but the bucks are getting to live longer and get BIGGER.
Jeff

What is really impressive, beside the buck itself, is that young man used a primative weapon, stalked the buck on his turf, and it was probably harvested on the family farm not some intensly managed private preserve. Congrats to him and his family!!!
He gives hope to all us regular people again.

The legal size for the DEC is 21 inches. The tournament gives the captain a 1/2 for shrinkage. If it is over 21.5 you must keep it as there is no culling. If it is between 21 and 21.5 it is the captain's disgression to keep it or not.
