Nice going. On the opener, we weren't so lucky to be on the X, but managed a few from 6 flocks running traffic in the corn

When given the option of a boring troll around and hope to get 1 walleye/hour with no fight on heavy tackle vs drooping a light action rig to the bottom and hook up instantly on 15" perch that pull drag.......no contest right now. Gas money saved and yummy fillets aquired by the bucketfull.....win, win.

Last Tuesday I had so many marks come up to the dipsey-I normally run a 15' plus leader to the lure-I pulled the slide diver to a 5' leader and 10' on the Walker-still wasn't getting the bites-just marks coming up to the divers. Any suggestions for the future? I tried tipping the lures with worm pieces and lure attractants-and the bite was still tough. The leadcore caught most of the fish (not all-some did come on the divers-but it was frustrating to watch).

sounds like the fish mood was lethargic-to-neutral. what specifically were you pulling on the dispeys? trolling speed? what surface water conditions? any board and/or rigger action or just the cores?

I think I am gonna stow about the Targa one evening.....if you know what I mean!!
Yeah, bad day out of The Oak yesterday as well. Zero for zero. A beautiful day on the water in any event.
Mark, "stow about the Targa" ???

I'm fishing until Dec 15th,the only back straps I get are from red stag deer in Guyana,S.A.,no licenses--no limits late Dec,Jan,Feb,Mar & April.I give the amerindians everything to eat but the back straps, then go catch peacock bass for rainforest surf & turf along with grilled plantian and mangoes.Taking a night off and going to see 2016!
now that is what i call surf 'n turf !!!

Why hunt deer when the best perch and walleye fishing is on during bow season?
[ Post made via Android ]
Jim, I have a big freezer so I will bow hunt the opener and "blow" days to get some backstraps for my tasty walleye/perch surf 'n turf
So many options, so little time...

Yep that was/is me. Glad I sold that gas hog when I could.
LOL... I fish wilson every spring and remember motoring by wishing I had one - on my Bucket list.
Was it a diesel of gas? Either way I can imagine it sucked a ton of fuel being as heavy as it is.
It was gas, volvo 8.1 engines which are junk IMO, in 3 years blew 1 head gasket, siezed 1 bottom end, and had numerous sensor and wiring problems. The CC28 is a great boat in a head sea but basically sucks for anything else such as drifting or trolling parallel to the waves. the great lakes short period waves will get it rocking so bad you can't even stand up. I consider my 23 Steiger Miami an upgrade for the type of fishing I do.
Yikes!!! Thanks for sharing you just saved me $180k
Your new boat looks very nice. At first glance it looked like a Parker

We have had great luck running the fence deep off abino and the condos. That hasnt been the issue. Inshore though, has been tough for us. A few here, a few there. We have been working the fence close, and deeper off the hump on windmills, but slow goin. Same program with meat. About to switch over to cranks and give it a go..
have you attach any fish lips to that copper rig yet?

NICE catch!!!

What an awesome summer it has been. Since July 1st and about 20 trips we have limited out everyday except once where we only did 6 fish. Walleye fishing has just been outstanding. Gotta love Lake Erie. Thinking about heading up to Lake O this week since my freezer, my relatives freezers, and my neighbors are pretty much full to capacity.
welcome to the discussion topic

Larry, so sorry to hear this. We will definitely keep an eye out for you. Makes my blood boil ...
Your a real pro, and unselfishly help us all with fishing info. and advice. You make your living fishing, I would like to donate $25 toward helping you replace your gear, a small token of appreciation for a fellow fisherman and a good guy.

Also, let me know if you need rods/reels in the near-term to get you by with charters.

We chatted earlier.
My buddy wants the beckman. Nothing like netting a 6lb walleye with his dinky rapala stowable perch net. Wish I had it on video. Commical at the least. Of course the meat rig gets caught up in the net, and the fish is floppin. How we didnt lose it, I will never know.
Fun day out there.
funny. Mark, give me a call to arrange pickup

Anyone know how the duck hunting generally is during late season assuming some open water is available?
