There are few big fish in the population currently, best advice I can give for finding and catching larger walleye: find smelt schools, don’t fish in the school but around the outside of them. And just as important find your own water, don’t fish with a pack of boats.
We too fished out of the Catt. Headed straight out, found fish in 70-85 row, fish down 45 and 60ft. Headed west. Willow blade harnesses on downrigger, and 124mm dipsys on three setting with 120-140ft wire out, speed 2.0-2.2 mph, only needed three rods for 12 fish limit.
Smart Troll II eliminates all the quess work, real time readings of depth and temp at your dipsys. Not affiliated in any way. Planning to purchase in a couple of weeks
I’ve spent the entire month of April in Port Clinton area and I each time I had less than 50% fishable days. Now that the fish are smaller not sure it’s worth it, IMHO
Two man limit. I like Hanover and Barcelona launches, personally. It was so calm today you could run anywhere you wanted. We had fish on the screen all day.
Fished Catt … 2 mi west of port 85fow, thermocline at 65 ft, can you say bait, bait, bait (smelt). Never left this depth, east-west troll 2-2.3mph. Storm deep Thunderstick Jrs and original Deep thundersticks, one 18lb ****head and Walter’s 18-24”
