  1. Went Sunday with my 9 YO son. It was awesome. I have been to other BPS and Cabelas and a Gander Mtn. before but this place is really over the top.

Dont expect to find much in the way for trolling but I knew that going in there. If you are a rooster tail fan they have a big selection. Lots of saltwater stuff too.

Its 2 levels, ground and basement. 2 elevators for the physically challegned, snack bar and the furniture section looks out the glass back wall onto what looks to be a casting pool under progress. Nice place to take a break before sensory overload.

Too much to explain, you just have to make the trip down yourself. The looks and the excitment from my son made it a special day. Had to leave some $$$. I bought him a Jr. Browning compound bow set up. He is in heaven now!!!!

If you go, Go like you normally go to the Patriots stadium and go 1 mile past the stadium and its up on the left. Plenty of signage.

    Enjoy.

  2. Big Easy. I used to make a knock off of the spoon called "Top Gun". Mine was called a B3. (Bad Brads Blades) This is a great sized spoon for LL Salmon. It comes in a ton of colors. There is a store in Merideth NH called AJ's Bait and tackle. He handles the Top Gun and has a color chart on his website. He will ship to your location. Ask for Alan.

Also, Pagus Bay Sports in Laconia NH carries a spoon that is called a DB Smelt. Ask for Jay at the shop. He can hook you up with some great colors. Pricey but worth it.

Check out www.fishlakewinni.com for links and info for up that way.

I am heading out to the new BPS in Foxboro Ma. in a half hour. I dont expect to find much for trolling but I will report what I find. Its a field trip for my 9 YO son. He has never been in a Superstore yet. Wonder if I can get out without spending a buck. He said he wants to wear his Gander Mtn. hat he got at the Little Salmon River Challenge. LOL

  3. If anyone is out there on the fence about buying a copper set up, I will say this. I am an invited guest on boats (I no longer own a boat), and during king season I will no longer be on a boat without a copper set up. I have seen it work for 2 seasons now. It can be the only rod that gets a hit some days. It's a must have as far as I am concerned.

I bought my set up a little late this past season but I will be bringing it out each and every time I make my pilgrimage to Lake O. I went with 400' of heavy copper on a Shimano Takota 800. I have been told that you can add sinkers on rubber bands to it to get it deeper if needed.

  4. Maybe I should see if they would sponsor me for a couple of them to try out? It might just be the shiz-nizzle for next year. I can see all the people asking questions at the Pro/am's. " Hey, whats with thoes red things on your reels??" Doctors orders so I dont have a heart attack, would be my reply.

Just dreaming till next fishing season.

    GO SOX!!!!

  5. Jeff,

Scott called tonite to say how many people are calling to say how good the salmon is. He gave away the salmon to a bunch of different people. One guy smoked it and brought it over this afternoon. Scott said it tasted like candy it was so good. Soneone else made a dill sauce and cooked it that way and called him to say it was so good. His wife loved the smoked stuff too.

Scott said he is ready to go back. LOL

I told him he should drive out just for the weigh in for the pro /ams. So many fish are given away then. Its amazing.

Thanks again for taking this Mass-Hole. Cant wait till next season!!!!!

A few pics from this season.

  6. Fished with Jeff off the Empty Hook out of the L. Salmon. We did well this AM before the sun got up high. We went 6 for 7. Fish for 15 to 20 pounds. All taken on J's. Green Glo ladder back with rattles did the trick. Flat lined 100' back or 5' down on the rigger. 18-20 feet of water in front of the trailers is where we took our fish.

    Thanks Jeff!!!!!

This was the one fish we took on Friday afternoon in the rough weather that was building. Fish took a flasher fly on the dipsey.

  8. Last I knew it was Jamie Abel owning and running Abes. Is Jim someone who works there for Jamie??? If so, maybe he doesnt do the ordering of the items and doesnt have the say so to give away free stuff.

I dont know. I have always had a good experience shopping at Abes and dealing with Jamie and his wife. Best store for miles around for sure!!!!

  9. I work in the pet industry. One of my customers has lots of dogs + cats + horses. She grooms dogs and cats all day. Fleas are her worst enemy. She found a product called "flea free" www.fleafreeanimals.com and she swears by it. Its a all natural liquid you put in the pets water.

GET THIS: She mixes 4 Table spoons in 1 gal of water. Each morning she shakes the jug of water and she pours 4oz. in a glass and drinks it. She goes fishing and scouting for hunting with her husband and she doesnt get bothered by biting insects. He refuses to drink it. She says you cant smell it on her. Its made with garlic and lavender oil. These are things bugs hate.

    Check the website out.

If I was a captain or a mate on a boat day after day, I would give this a try.

  10. The large Savants have changed since they first came out. The early version wasnt very speed tollerant. Good for casting and slow retieving, or good for lake trout at slow speeds.

The new version has a more pronounced "cup" in it. Its also has a small bump in the blanks profile where the treble split ring attaches. this is how you can recognize the difference.

The smaller size is called the Jake 45 and is quite unique in shape and bend. It catches both salmon and browns quite well. (walleyes too.) Just ask Rich D.

The Paint on these spoons is second to none. Very scratch resistant. You may pay a little more but you get what you pay for in this case.

  11. I saw a great shirt at the weigh in that said: "Shut up and fish".

Your opinion has been heard. It's the first year this was run. Give them a second chance next year and lets see where things pan out. Remember this is a fish for fun event meant to raise $$ for pen rearing etc. ......

  12. I too had a great time. There were 96?? boats entered. Way over what was anticipated. Ron, Rich and all the rest of the crew involved....great job!!! Thanks to all the sponsors too. My son Jordan had a blast too. This was his first experience at Lake O. fishing and he had a time to remember. Friday...15# king salmon (first one ever), Sat....10th place and Sunday.......8# brown trout. I dont think he will allow me to go out there solo again.

I think I saw/ heard the winner of the 50/50 drawing on Sat. donate a portion of his winnings back to the cause. That was a real classy thing to do. We need more people like that.

Looking forward to next years LSRC already.
