  1. Thanks to those involved in running the tournament, it was a fun venue to experience for my first time in a musky tourney. What made it even better was Chad and Todd becoming the teachers and I the student which I can't say I ever thought could happen but it did.  Those bait-cast reels take some getting use to but I was able to master untangling bird nests, casting and working a variety of baits that were big enough to be wall mounts, learned to use a net the size of a hot air balloon and how to throw a musky into the judges boat so it wouldn't fall back into the lake without being measured(nice catch Ed). The radio was quiet most of the day which explains why Chad forgot to turn it off when we closed it up for the night and Todd being the good little brother he's always been went back out to the boat the following day to turn it off after hunting all morning.  Falling off the boat while he tried to button the canvas back on couldn't have been that much fun or the 2 hr wet ride home, but thanks for saving the boat batteries from a slow death. Joe, hope you're feeling better, the boys had a hard time fishing through all the fog after the fog lifted.  Chad, if I need Charlotte to watch grandma while we go fishing I'll call you.  All in all a great time and fun outing.

  2. My theory on what is taking place here and what color would be your best choice: first the spin doctor is not a bait but an attractor the motion of which is seen as a feeding salmon checking bait with its lateral line to sense vibration of the prey to insure it is a food source of weakened ability.

(Survival of the fittest) Now consider the coloration of salmon, if seen from below it will appear white( white belly) seen from above it would appear black, during the rolling motion of lateral line sensing it would flash its' shiny silver side and reflect the attributes of its' enviroment, ie, greenish water(lots of green water at Niagara), bright sun or dark day etc. The trailing bait whether it's cut bait, fly, squid etc. has already been checked out by a salmon and any following competing salmon must decide instantly to strike or starve based on how well the presentation you have choosen mimics what it sees every day as it occurs naturally and is ingrained in its' instinct to survive. All fish are camoflauged to survive and the pattern is pretty distinctive for its enviroment, the challenge is matching these subtle variations to where we fish and our wallet.

  3. At Kodak and now at CNSE and the "Lone Operator Policy" in both places is to notify security that you'll be working alone and where you will be at then you are required to call in every hour, no call and they come looking for you.  This would be a good a practice for a lot of circumstances, hunting, fishing, shopping also have your kids to check in as well.

  4. Congradulations on successfully pulling off an upgrade to the site of mammoth proportions.  After listening to you  analyze every detail of how to keep up with technology without disengaging users needs and enhancing the experience at the same time it seemed like it would be impossible to do. But you did it and the fishing community can now enjoy a level of communication and interaction like never before. Thanks to all the Pro-members and site Sponsors whose contributions help fund this upgrade.  Also, thanks Chad and Katie for Mom and I, for the upgrade to grandparents.  I'm sure you'll both do fine as the upgrade from man and wife to parents takes place, piece of cake after LOU.

  5. Happy Birthday Joe, Hope you're having a fish filled happy summer, if not

You're old enough now to take up drinking, smoking, gambling and all the

other stuff mom and dad tried to tell you was bad for ya. Enjoy your day, also

consider the source of this advice before using.

  6. The ones that are all scratched up are the ones that work obviously, they may not pretty to you but they catch fish, use those first. EE's work, great on lead core or copper as they have action at slow speeds, kings love em trolled too fast so they spin every once in awhile, deadly on browns, great off boards for bows, might even catch a laker or two. We have few of these on Rebel but have not been known to put them out that often. You may want to consider Pete's offer if you need the cash to buy groceries or something.
