Congrats to Chad, Katie, Todd, Evan and Billy...glad to see you kids enjoying the Pro-Am's as much I have for 20 something years and finishing on top is a bonus that is a hard earned accomplishment you can be proud of. Good to see the open division starting to fill out as well, it does give those sitting on the sidelines an opportunity to compete at higher level.

Fortunately it will have no effect on the accuracy of the forecasting since there are no parts to fix stupid.

Good work all around, nothing to be embarrassed about with your results for the first trip up to strange territory, sounds like you got quite an education from everything that happened. My dad had been boarded just after he returned from WWII while fishing the St. Lawrence back in the late 40's, they claimed in was in Canadian waters (before GPS, Loran etc.) so it was their word against his. He decided they could swim back to Canada and knocked them both overboard. He said he was sorry but still spent a night in custody and had to pay to get the boat back. Glad it turned out well overall a great adventure. I made it up Sunday to fish with Rebel and slammed a lot of em West but don't think you have to follow the crowd, 39 of 40 boats went west in Orleans county Pro-Am guess who went east and finished 2nd. Believe in your skills and find your own water, experience will guide you more as you start putting the pieces together from all these events. Good luck the rest way.

I thought what might make it more interesting in terms of strategies used is to add another 10 pts for each species captured. So a 5 lb. rainbow with your catch of kings would actually be worth 15pts. + 10pts for species = 25pts. Under the current format guys live and die with the king bite, great when they are there but when the bites tough or you need one or two fish for your limit, or you're behind and even a good king catch won't do it, you could go for the grand slam, could open some other decisions and strategies. Over all I think it would make better fisherman and take off the blinders. Just a thought, love the Pro-Ams anyway.

Also consider that you have to keep an 18.5 inch as part of your catch instead of putting it back to get a 20 lb fish, that's a swing of 18 pts that make up your box and your stuck with it cause you caught it. A big fish only set could be your strategy but you still need the most fish you can get and you may only get a few with that strategy (better for LOC big fish derby), so IMO it's all part of the game and makes it more interesting and more competitive. If you still feel bad about taking a small one think about how many alewives, smelt and mooneyes you are saving by removing it from the lake, 6-10 per day, everyday for the next 1095 days =6570 tinier baitfish are saved. Those little kings are eating, killing machines and will not stop till they spawn.

Not a rumor Ray, Pat has a way of working his magic when clearing lines, he recites something in Italian and next thing you know he's got one on. I've seen him do it time and time again, can't explain it but it's very entertaining to watch from where I'm sitting. Jerry gives the guys timely constuctive instructions on what needs to be done and Pat and Rob respond enthusiatically to his suggestions. I on the other hand can't hear what they're saying and just drive around looking at the sights along the shoreline and enjoying the majesty of the big pond, smoking and drinking coffee, but they put up with me. Jerry. Pat, Rob, and Steve "Lumpy" are all great fisherman by themselves but when put together, I lack an adjective to that could possibly describe what it becomes, but it is fun. Congrats to the White Mule team, Capt. Bob Cinellli, thanks for the work you do to keep this outstanding event going for all these years, through thick and thin.

Stick with the long leads even off the boards, 150 back 50 to 100 off the boat. Also, start shallower 5-7 ft. then move out as the sun comes up ( if it ever does) browns like to pack the bait against the shore then destroy it. Try some gobi patterns and if the water is stained go to the bright stuff.

Congratulations Tom, you better stock up Snoopy rods, you're going to be very busy training that clan of yours.

Rick, not only does Jerry bend, fold and mutilate spoons but he's also been known to cut Smithwicks in half. trick is to get them to have action for the speed I'm driving. I've had to accidently break off many of these experiments but some are exceptionally productive and make it into the tournament box. As far as technique to bend spoons, bend it, hang it over the side and watch it, bend again, watch again till you get an action that fish would hit. There are a multitude of things that change the action of spoon that you should try before bending one up, hook size, hook weight, o-ring sizes, swivel types (flat, rounded) and tying (closed knot or open loop)
