  1. Well said LT, I have had similar feelings as Tom in the past, but theres still something exiting about putting 30 fish in the boat of any kind!! Jay also downsized rods when we were pulling the Lakers and those fish can give a solid head nod, especially if you "finesse" fight them(I was driving for his trip, strictly as a friend..his usual first mate and wife Trish had to work). Bottom line is the kings were off and people just want to catch fish!! Tom, I was gonna give you a shout, but when you passed us you were busy!! Way to go boating those two kings!! Tank.

  2. Windburn, I fill the baitwell(large) on the back of my boat with fresh water for every king that comes into the boat. I place the fish in net and all and just remove the hook and net as I go while the fish is breathing in water the whole time Get a quick pic and gently nose dive the fish back into the lake. If you don't have a livewell or one big enough for kings a big cooler can work also. (original idea from Capt. Jason Franz-Troutnabout, a good friend) Tank

  3. I hear you Upgrady! I had a thought this morning that maybe the leader on the fly should be wire at and inside the fly. Obviously you want flourocarbon running to the fly but inside the fly to the hook a short wire piece would be almost totaly conncealed? Anyone agree. It just sucks losing well hooked fish due to leader snaps!! I will probably experiment the next trip out. Post up if you think I'm nuts or not?? Tank

  4. Rob, yes it has been awesome! Took me awhile to set her up as I needed some help from Dad and Jay and were all busy(although both found time!!). But I got her done and am thrilled about it!! Now what do I do with my bass boat??? I guess Kings will do that to you. See you out there!

Jax and Ray, thanks for the tips guys, I am actually a fanatic knot and line checker. All the setups that broke were brand new each time yesterday  , nonetheless stresses the importance even more!! Thanks, Tank

  5. Fished Sandy today and could not really stay in any kind of good temp. Weird thing was I had 3 break offs!! One broke off my 50# leader just to the rear end of the dipsey and the other 2 broke the treble right off of two atomik flies. Wound up boating a mid teen and a few skippers. Couldn't really get the riggers going today other than the few mentioned above. All break offs were on wire dipsey setups?? Best screen was in 100-110ft. but couldn't buy a bite there. Took fish in 120-125. Tank

  6. Hey Everybody, just a question for all the Sandy Creek anglers on how much catch and release fishing is going on for the kings. I have kept a fish a trip so my catch and release rate is high. Just wondering what others are doing. As a side note, I fill my rear baitwell with fresh water for each fish landed and I place the fish in it net and all. Take out the hook, remove the net and get a quick pic. Other than for the pic, the fish is breathing in fresh water the whole time. I have only had one fish stay on surface after release and we went back and got her. Any replies will be appreciated! Thanks, Tank
