  2. Youth Hunt 2017

Successful Youth firearm hunt with my son Drew! Incredible 2 days of hunting in a ground blind with my oldest! He is a natural shooter and made a perfect shot on this southern tier 8 pointer! Memory for life! Great job Drew! This was my first time in the woods for the season and I can't wait to get back out there.

  3. I just called both offices. I have been in support of crossbows for a long time. I have made calls and sent letters in support for several years. NO logical reason to be against them. They are a game harvesting weapon that is NO different than bow, gun or muzzleloader. If choices exist, than hunters should have the right to exercise choice to use any and all legal weapons at their disposal in the quest for harvesting big game. Thanks Outback for the post and info.  Tank

  5. I'm down in Latham Ohio at an outfitter and should be tagged out. Opening morning a beautiful 10 pt sneaks in from the left I've got the gun ready for him to clear a tree for about an 70 yard shot when he catches my wind. He turned to take off and I was able to get him stopped in an opening about 85-90 yards. I shoot and he drops - so I throw another round in and he gets up and scoots through the thick stuff. Waited 3 hours and had good blood with some bubbles in it and some dark blood on the one side. Had a group of guys and we searched all over with no luck. Sucks to lose one - would have been my biggest. I must have screwed up the shot because the gun drives tacks. Going to be a long rest of the week.

Hey Mean, thx for the comment on my Buck and really sorry about your 10! Are you at Sunfish Valley? I went on a late season Muzzy hunt there last year and had a great time. I never saw a shooter but it was well run. If so, tell Dylan I said Hi! Tank (Andy Wegman)

  6. A 2 year quest for this Buck ended tonight! (11/26/16) Have 2 years of trail cam pics along with one from 2015 opening week the day after I left 50 yards from my stand at 8:30 am. Put it together this season with multiple pics and I stuck with hunting my blind in his most frequented location. VERY content tonight! Thank you GOD! Sarah and the kids here at Camp to ADD to the Fun! (text copied from my facebook page)

  7. That's an amazingly fast turnaround! I'm having friends of ours do mine (I pay them), they did my last one and it turned out great.

Here's a question: how do you guys hang your European mounts? I mounted two screws in the wall positioned where the main beams bend forward and countersunk a hole in the back of each antler. The screws protrude from the wall 3/4" and the mount simply hangs from them. It's flush with the wall and doesn't risk damaging the delicate bone structures, but the downside is that there is a hole in the back of each antler. It's not visible when mounted and the angle of the head on the mantle is perfect, but still...there's two holes in the rack now. I'm sure there's a better way.

Keith, Nice display there! I use these and they mimic a shoulder mount basically for Euro pieces. I'll throw up another pic later, its early! Andy

Here's a few older ones I put up in the garage when trying it out. I have yet to mount my collection of Euros in the house. Stained one is older rough work. The model in the pics is the Little Hooker.

  8. Saturday eve my oldest son Drew took his first Buck at age 14! I was like an excited kid on Christmas, he was all calm and cool! Ha! Took him with my 270 @40 yards and dropped him with a heart shot! Ironically, this is the same buck he flesh wounded during the youth firearms season. When we went to gut him I noticed missing hair and sure enough he had a nice 270 scar..not deep enough to even bleed as we had NO blood back on Columbus day weekend. Pics are in my trailer as it was snowing like mad. Also Drew had a full orange vest and hat on in the field and we took the tag off for pics. Pics were back at Camp. Tank
