Town of Greece has been  pumping partially treated sewage into long pond ( Monday& Tuesday)

"It blew those off because the pressure was so great, and sewage was pouring out into the street. We were pumping the street with a half-dozen pumps for three or four days. We weren't keeping up. It got to a dangerous level last night."

The sewer was overwhelming the town pump station, and the fear was sewage would back up into basements, creating a contamination disaster. So town officials began relieving the pressure by pumping the excess sewage through a chlorinator to kill pathogens and then into nearby Long Pond."

Monroe county has released 3.4 MILLION gallons of storm water & UNTREATED SEWAGE into the Genesee River also on Monday

"Monroe County released 3.4 million gallons of stormwater and untreated sewage into the Genesee River about 6:30 p.m. Monday after the rainfall filled available storage"

And again the outflows at the dam was reduced yet again. Under the new 2014 plan nothing has to be done to reduce lake levels anymore " a slower natural release of lake water is the preferred method now under 2014 plan", the old 1953 D plan had a binding Must response.

The National guard is in Hamlin now filling sand bags with a sand bag machine till this Friday. Wonder how much all the shoreline town taxes will go up with such an upcoming of lake shore property devaluation happening.

I guess eating perch out of Long Pond doesnt look too appetizing anymore..... Jeez

  2. I bet that fish is 75 yrs old. No kidding, they live long and are slow growing especially with that cold water. Too bad about the gill net...that sucks. Keep that in mind when keeping a big laker even in Lake O. , they are old fish and will take 10-30 yrs or so to replace the fish you  just kept.

  3. The article I read says that if this passes the final step, then there will be no need to call ahead anymore unless you anchor or touch shore including Canadian Islands. This will be nice if it passes. I knew it was only a matter of time when it hit their pocketbook they would change it back. Too much a hassle the way it is now and so impractical. As of now the old rules still apply.

With Sandy Creek Marina closing thirty plus captains and pleasure boaters have been displaced. I have yet to hear of someone picking Braddocks as their new home. I'm sure there must be some. Drove through the Danielle property today and there are a bunch of new floating docks ready to go in. Not many boats going in and out of the bay yet but early reports are low water and boulders in the channel. Should be an interesting year.

Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

If it's low water now, then it will never get up to an acceptable level. How much more has the water level have to raise? Its high everywhere else. Too bad about Sandy.....

  5. That channel has been like that for what 200 years?? They still dont have it figured out how to keep it open or just dont care. Too bad all our tax money goes to NYC or we might have money to fix things like this and the parkway stretch near Oak Orchard which is no longer useable. We cant use anything and have the highest tax rates in the country...... What a joke....NYS and the Town of unfriendly Greece.

  6. I'm not sure if its true or not but it was on the news that when Trump gutted the EPA, the Great Lakes clean water funding projects are going down the tubes including the Braddocks project. I hope thats not the case but I think it might be. It is and has been embarrassing that the only port the town of Greece has on the Great Lakes is like 2 feet deep and mostly unnavigable. Sad and even on the ponds they hassle people, cant park on the road at Cranberry, put a giant rock so you cant launch, little access on Buck, Round, etc. Town of Greece is a total joke and so is NY for allowing this to happen. Public access to the Great Lakes sucks in this area. I wont give an opinion on Trump because I dont want to blow a gasket.

  7. .040 wire is about right for them the .30 wire will bend too much and more than .40 is tough to work with (bending eyelets etc.

Depends what you are fishing for. One little secret from a spinner maker of over 25 yrs....the thinner wire does bend more but gives off much better vibration. For bass, pike, trout I use .029 and have had outstanding results. Bending is rarely an issue and if it does, just bend it back. For skis .051 is the norm but now many are going to .062. like the Spankys.

  8. Kinda rare for any Muskies to be this far east (Fair Haven). Doesnt happen too often except Niagara region. The middle section of the lake is pretty much void of Muskies. Anyone else heard of any from Oak Orchard to Fairhaven stretch ? Too bad this one was kept obviously on the dock, bet it was 20-25 yrs old.

  9. Oh no not again! Dr Farrell said they hadnt even recovered from the last die off. Maybe the hot water invites different diseases? Muskies can be anywhere along the eastern end as that is the summer haunts for many before returning to the river in fall. There has to be some die off from old age but it is concerning if anglers are seeing them dead all at once. That's 3 pictures right there. OMG. What a shame.

  10. FROM YOUR POST I GATHERED A LOT OF OPINIONS........BUT VERY FEW FACTS. PERCH ARE A RENEWABLE RESOURCE. ONCE A PERSON CATCHES A PERCH, ,OR OTHER NON GAME FISH IT SHOULD BE THEIRS TO DO WITH AS THEY WISH. SOME PEOPLE DON''T FISH , YET THEY STILL ENJOY EATING THEM. WHERE DO YOU THINK THE PERCH FOR SALE IN MARKETS COME FROM? THEY ARE CAUGHT AND SOLD. I ALSO HAVE FISHED SENECA AND ALL OF THE FINGER LAKES FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS. THERE ISN'T A SHORTAGE OF PERCH, BUT THEIR IS A SHORTAGE OF GOOD PERCH FISHERMAN. YOU CAN NOT EMPLOY THE SAME TECHNIQUES THAT YOU USED 25 YEARS AGO AND EXPECT THEM TO BE  SUCCESSFUL TODAY. USE LIGHTER LINE FLORO CARBON AND FISH DEEPER. 30 - 60 FOOT.  THE LAKES HAVE CHANGED DUE TO ZEBRA MUZZLES AND OTHER ISSUES. I REMEMBER COUNTING 137 BOATS IN DRESDEN BAY ONE SATURDAY MORNING DURING THE 70'S. YOU COULD NOT SEE BOTTOM IN 12 FOOT OF WATER AND THE FISH SPAWNED SHALLOW. NOW THEY DON'T. THEY SPAWN IN MUCH DEEPER WATER ADJUST YOUR TECHNIQUES.

PERHAPS WE SHOULD ALSO BAN THE SALE OF WORMS AND MINNOWS AS WELL, AS THIS ALSO DEPLETES OUR RESOURCE.

    Meatman,

I could go on and on about your post but I wont because you are so off base it's ridiculous.. I disagree with your post 110%. Such a selfish attitude. I hope they reduce the limit to 25.

  11. So how do we put into play with the DEC reducing the limit and more importantly eliminating the commercial harvesting of these fish? Also more enforcement should be happening. Whats the first step to take other than convincing ourselves on here? Somehow this should be brought to the DECs attention. If each person calls or writes the DEC, maybe they will get the hint. Do they care though since these are not Trout? (its the only thing they care about it seems)
