  1. Am thinking of making the trip to port ontario/mexico launch to troll for steelies or browns that might be off stream mouths this time of year. Has anyone been out lately? We use to do pretty good w/ steelhead off Salmon River, but that was 20 years ago; I think there might still be some good action when conditions are right.

  2. Am thinking of making the 90 mile drive to fish out of stoney creek launch; how is the fishing at the wall or trench area/ I dont have temp/speed gauge, but will probably run riggers at 90 feet over 110 fow; how does that sound?

Anybody been fishing out of stoney creek during last few days? Thinking of trying for browns near Drowned island, or perhaps up to ray's Bay, but fearful that water temps may mean a trip to the trench or the "wall" might be more productive.

Very slow day out of Mexico launch; very few boats in the whole bay. We hit lots of green slime which attached to lures, cables, etc, and made it nearly unfishable; what's up with that stuff? It was not there Wed. evening, but in the whole bay on tHURSday; looked like rast-man hair, but green!! Anyone else with this problem??====================

Am thinking of making the 100 mile (one-way) drive to fish out of Stoney Creek launch; last time we did a few browns near Drowned Island; any new reports for that area? I read that fishing has slowed a bit in the Eastern basin , but am hoping that area might still be worth the drive. Perhaps better to go deep near the Wall, but I would like to target browns rather than lakers!

Years ago, we used to catch steelhead off mouth of Salmon River by drifting egg sacs; I have heard some people claim that offfshore steelie fishing is good after the salmon run. I am looking for tips on trolling for steeelies thru early november; locations, depths, techniques?? Any insight much appreciated.

  8. Does anyone still fish off Grindstone, Salmon. L. Salmon at this time of year for steelhead and other species; 20 yrs. ago it was quite popular to fish mouths with egg sacs for stellhead; also, we used to catch steelies trolling using spring techniques; nowadays I see few boats out once the salmon runs are over; any info??

Does anyone know if I can access the lake via stoney point using the stoney creek launch? I know that water levels had been very low this year in general, and am afraid that the creek levels might be too low; I have only an 18 ft. boot with 90 horse outboard, so no real problem with draft. Thanks~!
