  1. i have never had trouble down at the river either, but in broad daylight during the salmon run i have come up to two different people with their cars broken into. actually the people fishing are great just like any other fisherman and if you really want to make friends do what grady did, GIVE SOME FISH!!! i did that during salmon season and the guys would cheer for me when i walked down the steps the next time i was there. they would tell me how they loved that good salmon ;)

  2. this time of year..... watch the weather and make a trip to erie. walleyes everywhere... if ya want to go a little further there is oneida in syracuse. you will also not be dissapointed there eiyther! areas right in rochester, the genny has some good eyes by the seth green apartments. you can access by boat or land. honeoye lake is also very good but difficult to get em during the day. ya might catch a ton of bass and lots huge gills. conesus also was good to us in the spring but has slowed down a lot since the weeds came up. not sure about bradocks or long pond or any of the other ponds off of ontario but hope this helps

  3. actually got wednesday off, thinking about it i will let you know. just with gas the way it is, its almost a $120 from rochester with the truck and the boat.

thanks shawn! how are the riggers treating you? heard you were out at hanks' did ya get the boat in tip top shape. i still gotta get a 15hp out to him.

  4. limited out all three days, couldn't keep em off of us. worm hareness and bottom bouncers. fire tiger and a black and chartreuse was the hot ones for the week. first two days between 109-111 and little round 113. last day was really hot at 119-121. its horrible when you gotta get off the lake at 9 cause ya got limited out on 17-22 inch walleye. absolutely horrible ;)

storm front, tried calling on the radio on friday for ya. did you go out or did you end up going to owasco.

  5. all really good advice! thanks guys. i don't fish lake o with my 16 ft. i really only fish lake ondeida, conesus, honeyeo. so the huge waves aren't an issue. just looking for a little cheaper than running my 40hp. not that it sucks a lot of gas but any that i can save these days..... the other reason i was trying to get away with the lower hp is i wanted the gas tank mounted with it and of course its cheaper.

also thanks gene i may want the bracket and the easy steer if the price is right but i gotta find a motor first. i will keep you in mind.

  6. did pretty good on saturday. straight out of the harbor in 60 to 70ft of water with east troll. went 6-10 and dropped a 10lb'er at the boat. all really good eaters 4-7 lb range. most fish came on a mono dipsies 175 back with black and copper harenesses. speed was about 1.6 to 1.9 at the ball. fish were thick on bottom in the am and moved up in the water column to about 35ft in the pm. waves were huge!! haven't seen em on erie like that in a long time. rouge 8's rolling in!

    ray thanks for the info.

  7. watermelon is always a favorite. can't go wrong with black and purple either. actually two years ago we crushed em on one i called the strawberry shortcake. copper blades with red dots and a red stripe through the middle.

We use the larger harenesses, the ones with two hooks and uses wire (not the mono ones). the blades are shaped longer than they are fatter. never tried another size.

I think color depends on water conditions and part of the year. i usually throw the kitchen sink at em and see what they are hitting then adjust accordingly, but you have a good start.
