  1. Makes me sick to my stomach to hear that. It's so sad that some people just have no respect for nature; we are so lucky to have the resource and a nice lake to fish on. Thanks much for calling him out, this kind of crap just isn't acceptable. I am hoping that Jack won't take his entry form next year. Had a rough day out there as well, was wondering if I forgot to put hooks on the line. Hopefully will do some catching tomorrow. Tight lines!
  2. I was wondering if anyone would know of a marina that has rack service or sometimes they call it in and out service. I want to move my boat up to the big lake from the finger lakes but don't want to keep in in the water. I have found a few marinas that will let me keep it on a trailer but it would be easier if they could put her in and out for me. Would appreciate any info.
  3. Actually I live in the florida keys(islamorada) during the cold months and on owasco lake during the warm months. Will be headingup north in a couple of weeks
  4. The plug on the unit for the triducer is male, I dont think it came any other way.
  5. I am looking for a Fish hawk 840 display in good operating condition. If you have one you are willing to part with please let me know and how much you would like for it. thanks!
  6. My Fishhawk 840 display quit on me. Was wondering if someone had one laying around collecting dust that they might be willing to sell to me. thanks
  7. She taught herself to do this. Now I have to teach her to grab fish instead of rocks!
  8. Thanks for all of the feedback. I am going to give them a try and see how they work. Its fun to come up with different color combinations and they only cost a few cents to make. S*K - I am using plastic heads that i bought years ago. they are predrilled for the line to go thru. I used to make coho flies years ago using little plastic tubes. You can buy those tubes pretty cheap from stanley stinger. What i do is put a small diamater finishing nail thru the head and attach the nail in my vise. I use double sided stick tape on the head to attach the end of the banded tinsel to the head. I then just spin the head in one hand and feed the banded tinsel with the other hand. At the end I whip it with thread and give it a good coating of Zap a Gap instant glue. I fold back the tinsel and its done. Whole thing takes a minute or too. Hope that helps.
  9. I'd like to get some honest feedback on the attached picture of some trolling flies i just tied up while the wind is blowing down here. I used to fish for salmon and steelhead every weekend. Then about 10 yrs ago i got hooked on fishing in the Fla Keys. I have now found myself in a position where i can fish in florida in the winter and spend the summer on the finger lakes. I plan to get back into the salmon/steelhead thing on the Big O and I realize that I have a lot to catch up on. Lurking on this site has definetely pointed out that a lot has changed since i started chasing the saltwater guys. Anyway would like your honest opinions if the salmon will eat these flies and any suggestions for improvements or color combo's would be appreciated. You guys post a ton of great info on here and I am grateful to be able to soak it all up.
  10. I am looking for a pair of Cannon low profile swivel bases. Drop me a line if you want to sell a pair and let me know what you need for them. thanks
  11. I am looking for a Fish Hawk 840 Triducer in good working order.
  12. I wanted to take a minute and thank you for the detailed report you posted on fishing Owasco Lake. I am new on the lake and have finally found some time to get some fishing in last week. I caught numerous lakers every morning fishing the north end as you suggested. Fish seemed to come 50/50 on purple/black spoons and white dodger/green fly combo. Ran sliders but nothing touched them. But the action was very very fast down deep! Fish came 65 to 85 down in 70 to 90 fow. Now that i got the trolling thing down and i going to try some jigging next week. I assume the same areas will work. Again thanks for your info and maybe i will see you on the lake one of these mornings.
