  1. Oh yeah! After 45 minutes of chopping away ice to get the barn doors open - she sits in the driveway and not a moment to soon as the ground is way too soft this morning and I don't need another landscaping project.! Had my girls sittin in it in the driveway as I was putting things in order (should have taken some pics). So much to do - fun, fun, fun. Bill and Chromeslayer, your boats look great! Any issues with waxing during the temps we had this weekend?

  2. Nextel phones work well for our maint staff, but have issues with dead areas in and around Roch. Tough to get service in elevators and some basements. They have a lot of versatilty from basic 2-way communication only (no phone calls or assoc. costs) to gps locators as jimski2 pointed out. We have tried all sorts of stuff over the years so feel free to pm me or call and we can discuss.

    Good luck,

    Shawn

  3. My heart goes out to ya Shade. I have watched my brother go thru 4 back operations over the last 12 yrs or so, fighting with workmans comp, DSS etc and basically still not able to do much of anything. I wish I had his attitude because that is what has gotten him through this. Keep your chin up and I sure hope you can make it back out on the Lake this year!! I always have extra fish and venison in the freezer that I share with friends and you are more than welcome to any of it, so please don't hesitate to give me a holler. Thank you for sharing your experience as it has sure "opened" my eyes.

  4. The seminar Salmonite posted about was actually at the Rochester Gander Mtn store last night. Cptn. Chas Townsend of Buc-a-roo Charters out of "The Oak" did a great job not only talking about Spring Brown fishing, but anything anyone wanted to talk about. He shared great info and tips, covered a wide variety of topics, and was available afterward to talk to in person. There were about 15 or so in attendance and it seemed that just about everyone heard about it through this site!! THANKS Salmonite for posting about it earlier in the week cause I know i would have missed some great info if you hadn't. Captn Chas was also turned onto this site as a result!

    Thanks again,

    Shawn

  5. If you make venison jerky, and use "Jerky Cure and Seasoning" by Hi Mountain at http://himtnjerky.com (Gander has it also) in the 7.2oz pkg, the shaker container that that comes with it holds a fly nicely and fits in plastic Plano type boxes. However, you do have to make a lot of jerky to accumulate enough containers. not sure if you can purchase containers separately as didn't see them on their website. Empty spice containers work too, but do as Longline said and drill holes in the top.

    good luck,

  6. Camo color apparel for "stealthy" approaches especially in the spring. The back of shirts to say "Fishing isn't what I do it's who I am". And NEVER, EVER, stock any thongs - camo or otherwise! ;)

  7. Wondering if any of you guys have had luck with running diving plugs off planer boards. I've never been very successful with them, but do ok with adding a weight before a 6' leader to floating plugs typically early in the season when the fish start moving a little deeper. Don't quite understand why - is it a different action with the nose of the bait pointed downward instead of being more horizontal??

  8. Gander had the ADP47LC's for $49.99. A month or so ago, I purchased one for that - they didn't have any on the shelf so I asked one of the staff about it and he took one off a combo unit they had, put it in an original box with all the paperwork and rang it up for $49.99. Good service from this person!
