  1. Going to be in Port Bay over the upcoming weekend and wanted to take my kids out fishing weather permitting. I am not familiar with the area. Any trout/salmon fishing this time of year? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Andy

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

    Set up in at 100’ front of the river with riggers at 80’ and 100’ and set out on a NW troll. Caught a 5# steelhead on a NK purple glow frog 80’ down over 140 FOW. It was a tough ride out. Dog got sick, lost a dipsy, spin doctor and fly and my son was starting to look green, so we turned around at 200 FOW and headed back in. We had what I assume was another steelhead 100’ down over 170 FOW, but it spit the hook on its first jump. We set up the 120’ rigger with a Glow Yellow Tail Spin Doctor w/ Crinkle Mirage Green Hammer Fly and just as we got to 130 FOW it took huge hit and we ended up with a 22# king. Didn’t make the leader board, but it was our first big king. Pretty cool day on the lake.

    Great morning to be out. Set up in 90 FOW, trolled NW out to 200 and then back to 90. Got a small king in 160 FOW on an Agent Orange cheater on a rigger 60’ down. Got a little bigger king on the way back in 180 FOW on an NK28 on a rigger 80’ down. We called it quits early as the wind picked up and it got a little sporty for our boat. Looking forward to next weekend.

    ==================

    Just wanted to say hello and thank you to the LOU community for all the great information on trout and salmon fishing. My son and I spent an afternoon on the lake with Pierless a few years back and that is all it took. We were hooked. A big thank you to Pierless for all his generosity and support in getting us up and running. It took a while, but my son caught his first salmon (in our boat) two weeks ago and we are looking forward to a great summer. This site has been a huge help for us in figuring out what to buy and how to use it.

    Thanks again to the LOU community for all of your help. This is a great site.
