I just made a ton and they came out awesome. I had a bunch to make here is what I did, these are also fridge pickles so they can't sit on a shelf put them in fridge they will be good for 6 weeks or so.

11 cups of water

5 cups white vinegar 

1 1/2 cups of canning salt

fresh garlic- I put 3 gloves in each small jar and 5 per quart and 10 in a gallon

fresh dill- you need the tops (flowers)

canning spice- about 20-25 pieces per jar 

whole peppercorns- about 10 pieces per small jar [post=][/post]

Boil water till salt dissolves poor into loaded jars cap them and your done! 

They came out freagin awesome. 

I think mine is 83/200.. much difference between the 83 and 50?

Sensitivity is better on 50 and so is penetration, performance will suffer in deep water with the 83 due to an extremely wide cone. 

For water less than 200 ft, 200 or 83 is best, deeper 200 or 50 

200 will have the best target separation and clarity. 

I have fished out to high 500's running 200 and mark bait and fish well but not riggers, I will be playing with the 50 to see if I can get it to mark everything well 

I have an HDS-8 as well. I actually switched the mode to deep water fishing, the screen turned blue and performance picked up quit a bit. I like running it that way while up there. It changes all the setting around for deeper water, it worked very well. 

I'll play with all the setting next weekend on both 200 and 50 and report back.

I just put a 50 on my boat last year, only had it on Ontario for 10 minutes by the time I had to "install" the right transducer so didn't get to see what it can do., I'm all ears for 50hz settings on HDS. Ive been running 200 and it works great except for the rigger tracking. I'm calling a friend tonight for some help.

Any new input on this reel? I have a 800 Tekota I was considering selling to go high speed.  My friend is letting me borrow one so i will get a chance to use it myself but only for a couple days.

Yep, they are the number one device on erie for guys who run big boards. You can add weight to them, 2 oz 150 back I bet you could get it 60 ft. 

Run the Tru Trip 50 jets, you'll catch fish, you can get them down past 50 ft with not to much line out and they trip when you get even a small fish allowing it to come back up the surface. 

I saw some guys fishing inside off Olcott with them and they caught more matures than we did. 

So the walleye bug has gotten so bad that we are heading to port Clinton tomorrow morning. Has anyone ever been over there this time of year? hoping to troll around fort perry.

Fish F can, G can, E Can or D can. Run deep husky jerk, Deep rouges or deep renowsky's slow. .8-1.3 make alot of s turns. Launch at Catawba the "can" are 4-12 miles out depending on which one you want to fish, F can been good, fish have been in the dirtier water.

Definetly use mercury lower gear lube, put marine stabil in fuel and run through engine, do NOT fog an optimax they are direct injected.

Make sure you go into sonar- installation then select the proper transducer you are using by model number, there will be a little silver tag on your transducer cord you will find it there, you will mark with a 83 just have to planpy with settings.

You might want to consider the Daiwa Sealine SG47LC3B. I bought one and spooled it with 30 lb mono backing and 1000 ft. 30 lb seven strand and it saw some kings on it and worked flawlessly. I also have a power handle on it which helps with the gear ratio. I have some carbon fiber drag washers for it but so far the standard ones have worked fine. They are also small enough to double as downrigger reels. The Saltist is also a good reel and the direct drive line counter is nice but it can be uncomfortable on your wrist/arm because of where it is located.

My buddy just picked up a set of these for wire and the wire keeps keeps kept getting stuck in side of the spool said it was horrible. My 27 lcx's do the same thing from time to time not cool the regular lca were the best.

I have a Gen 1 unit that has been through hell and back been frozen a couple times, hailed on, rained on countless times and even power washed and it works fine. The VERY early model Gen 1 units had water intrusion issues with bad seals they got it corrected. Gen 2 units have been good with no known issues. 

They are mostly Bomber Long A's except a couple of them on the right

I was referring to wire line for fishing most guys seem to be spooled up with 350 plus backing, running it all out will take  take a thunderstick, dave's kaboom, 800 reef runner, deep husky, yo zuri, bomber long a, etc to 50-65 ft depending on the bait. They run them off inline or big boards, very popular program that wards off white perch, white bass and catches mostly walleye. 

Guys do run wire harnesses (if they don't want to retie them but 30lb ones will last awhile but they get harder to snell and keep snelled on small hooks) as well but most guys run 20-30 pound flouro on harnesses. I tie my single blade spinners about 6-7 ft long using 20 pound seaguar or maxima flouro, with 6-7 6mm beads with a quick change clevis, my tandem rigs are 30 pound seaguar and I tie them 10 inches and use a regular diver leader in 20 pound, that way I can go from spinner to spoon to crank on my divers or jets. (I hardly run jets as I mostly run inline boards)

I order the #2's local and buy the #6's from Hagen's in bulk since they are so expensive. These hooks are razor sharp and keep monster walleye buckled up.

Guys out east in ohio water fish 3oz inline weights with spinners ( Colorados, hatchets and tandem willows) , singe strand stainless wire with cranks, tru trip 40's and 50's (big boards for 50's) with spinners and spoons and divers with just about everything including spoons. We run inline boards with the inline weights with the spinners and snap weighted crank program. My typical smaller boat program is 4 or 6 boards with a mix of colorados and hatchet blades with 2 or 4 divers, depending on what they show a preference too ill kill a coupe of whatever and run more of what's working some days they won't touch divers or the boards. Leadcore and dive bombs are popular in ny waters but they don't see much action in ohio. Lots of ways to skin the walleye cat.

My suggestion is take a leaning charter and attend some seminars and see and hear how its done and absorb the info like a sponge.
