i run mast and board

300 copper on one side with an other rod with 5 color core

500 copper on the other with a 10 color core

2 down rigger and 2 dipsy

like many others i use spro swivel and polimar knot

i use braid as backing

oh and i use 700 tekota for copper and core

and i use shower curtains rings and rubber band

for release i've got 3 kind of rubber band

depending on the pull i will change up to heavier gage band

alot less expensif then those release they sell

at the end of the day you reel in the the board and collect all those shower curtain clips

they cost like 1$ for 20 in dollard store

rubber band well i think its like 200 for 1$

i,ve installed a spx5 on my 20 foot

very easy and fast to install

they are under 2k $

and you dont have to get it installed sinse its easy to do it yourself

a bit noisy i agree but after a while i dont even hear it anymore

i recently (yesterday)started using planerboard directly on my line

with 30 feets mono leader 7 to 10 color leadcore maybe 100yard of mono backing

with a mini dipsy for added depth

i lost 4 fish out of 6 cause i couldnt set the hook properly

and reeling in the planer was so hard causing a slack in the line

the planer kept going down causing a great ammount of pressure

when i was tring to reel in the fish

resulting in you know what especially with steelheads

problem wasnt in the tracking it handel the leadcore great

my question is :do you tie or clip the planer directly on the line

so it slips all the way to the fish or is there a special way

to retrieve it more easily

and is there a special way of setting the hook properly

i'm planning on installing a battery switch on my boat

number one battery: main motor ,automatic pumps,dash instrument

number two battery: downriggers,gps,sonar,cb,fishawk,autopilot

kicker will be plugged directly on battery two and not on the selector switch

kicker is a 9.9 merc with elec start

my question is this

if i'm cruising with main motor can i hit the selector switch and put it on number two battery or do i have to stop the motor

i want to make sure that the number two battery gets enought charge at the end of the day for the next outhing

considering that the kicker wont be on since i'm cruising with the main

can this do something to my battery or the alternator

try in 150 fow was there yesterday had a ball steel were suspending at 35 to 40 feet caught some nice king in same deph at arround 85 feet i caught them with a new sort of michael jackson i found , flys didnt catch one fish tried kirinkle mirage and nada my speed was 2.3 2.4 at the ball and the good temp was 49.5

overall manage a douzand steel 4 to 12 pds one little coho 2 kings 16and 21 pds

ps: waterdawg i wouldnt pay to much attention to hairy comment look at his name lol

BTW i dont have a name on the boat if im not with my bro on his 26foot baha im with my 20 foot hudson il be there again monday for 2 to 3 days

waterdawg try parachutes its awesom its easyer to control speed and your motor is rev higher so better control of direction to ,i'll be there tomorow morning but i think there announcing crap weather tho
