fished off the sodus pier this morning, not to much happening. Only saw maybe 2 trout caught and one other fish lost. managed one average brown myself probably about 6 or 7 pounds, unfortunetly my camera was dead and the cell phone couldnt gather enough light so no picture of the brown. my dad hooked up on a nice king as seen in the picture below. very dark fish i was surprised the fight it put up! both fish came on cleos, the salmon on a 3/4 glow and the trout on a 2/5 blue and silver. all the fish i saw caught came right at daylight the action shut right off after about 7:30. oh and if anyone is wondering about maxwell creek, theres not much water in it so not much is going on! there are a few black half rotten nooks on the north side of lake road where the fast water is... well, SHOULD be fast water i should say. and the snaggers were out in full force! i feel bad for those poor fish. will be fishing the mouth of maxwell in the next few days so will report back? has anyone been fishing irondequoit creek? good luck and tight lines!

best way ive learned to identify a salmon from a trout is to look in the mouth, coho's will have a white interior mouth with a black gum line, chinook's will have black gums and a black interior mouth. any of your trout species will be white gums white mouth. also coho's will primarily have just the uper portion of the caudal fin spotted, where as chinooks are fully spotted in the caudal. im in my final semister before i can call myself a freshwater fisheries biologist! thank god! hope this helps. thanks for the update
