  1. At the oak today i saw some people fly fishing, and it looked fun and different. I understand there is a 'weight' and a length for a fly rod. What are good stats for an all-purpose setup? I understand a higher weight is probably for a stiffer action, but i dont know where to start...

    Thanks,

    Matt

  2. Thanks guys

I would be more than willing to be an observer to start, that sounds like a great idea. So far i have tried to report every time i headed out but have only been a member since sept.

So much great info on here, i'm just excited to get out there and get some hands on.

    Thanks kindly for your help

  3. Glad you guys were able to make lemonade out of lemons! The thing about the kill switch is that most of us never touch the thing, so when it gets caught on your leg and it gets pulled out you usually don't notice it.

Last time i was out there it was very weedy on the surface, fouling most of our setups. We resorted to using bottom bouncers and still had no luck. Congrads on the fish!

  4. All,

I am not new to fishing in general, but i am new to salmon fishing. I have an 18ft aluminum boat with a downrigger setup, etc. I am interested in doing a lot more fishing this coming season and want to get involved in some tournaments. What preparations should i be concerned with now? Is there any advise you would give someone new to the sport?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  5. It was good meeting you guys last night, Any luck after i left? As we were walking out i noticed a guy's drag screaming out on one of his egg sack rods- yelled up to him, turned out it was a good sized brown. The thing was very lethargic when he was pulling it in, leads me to believe all the fish were off.

Salmonidlove, I PMed you my number if you want to get together sometime... or want a report of what's goin on down there.

  6. Been out every night since last friday, and saturday night seemed to be the only time they were highly active. Last night it was calm, like saturday- but not much to speak of.

On a side note: It is confirmed that nowhere besides mitchells (within 30 miles) sells the Yecks. Apparently they went out of business a short while back and then came started again. Now everyone that carried them before filled their spot with the cleos.

It seems to me that whatever Glo finish they put on the cleos is not nearly as effective as the yeck.
