I always thought that most of the trout in Catherine were already spawned out and back in the lake by the April 1'st opener!

I launched under the bridge in town before but think that still might be shut down for construction.Nice concreted launch though!!!

Yep not recommended at all from the manufacturer as well!

I think the launch is open year round and free if there isnt a guy in the booth.

Been on Catherine since the 70's....As far as fishing goes,its not what it used to be.However , when the state bulldozes thousands of fry up onto the band in the name of "flood control" Id say that that most likely was a bigger problem than a few slobs killing more than they can use.Want the the fish back in the creek?Get the state to put some smelt back into seneca,and follow canadas lead with sanctuarys.

I live for fishing weather its ice fishing or open water,I am there fishing.Would like to be here to give as much info fishing as well as I can learn here.I am mainly a Susquehanna river fisherman,but love lake Ontario trib Salmon fishing as well.Steelies are not my cup of tea,or any other trout species for that matter.But do go after the stockies in PA for the opener as a tradition.

Yea they start biting now,spring is the hottest bite of the year for cats.I got my first ones March 7th last year on the North Branch.Its been a little colder this year though,but the beginning of April with high water and you will slam them!!!!

How big do the Browns get in Cayuga?I am only a half hour away but I fish the Susquehanna river mostly,due to its only minutes away.I have fished Taughannock Park before though with saw bellies,and even went smelting in the creek.

You should of tried jigs in the deepest water.Seems like a Rapala wouldn't actually reach the bottom where they would be.I want try to get up there sometime in May after the opener.

With this high water the catfish will be biting soon.I checked the river yesterday and the launches were flooded.
