  1. Hey seasquirrel....check out nccoastalfishing.com........fishing reports come up for the north carolina coast. .....then scroll down to "fishing reports by capt. jerry dillsaver". His reports and fishing predictions and suggestions are always very reliable, and he updates them usually on thurs. or friday each week . Also "chasin' tails " gives a great report too. There are local reports for the entire n.c. coast on the main website. An awesome state to saltwater fish....good luck down there.

  2. Nice catch, good talking with you. We ended up with one combo and depth also. Hey nice boat by the way

Hi walleyemagic... thanks..always nice to see and hear you out there on the water. How are you liking your autopilot after a few day's with it?

I'm sure icedd will appreciate your nice comment on his boat...I love fishing out of it. But i told icedd , that an autopilot and YOUR BOAT are on my wish list for fishing up there in that neck of the woods. It looks like it is a comfortable , roomy , stable , dry and safe ride !!! Awesome looking boat you got ...some day......I would like to own one. And continued good luck to you the rest of the year!!

  3. Icedd and I headed up to Henderson Harbor friday for the Walleye opener on saturday. Friday we fished out of stoney creek for browns late morning and had fun with 3 to 6 lb browns....we went 8 for 12 .....A good start to the week-end.

We were really up there for the walleye's....we decided not to do the midnight shift, so we headed out of sacketts sat morn at dawn. Slow going ...not a lot of bites , had some bad luck and only 1 eye and a pike made it to the net in the morning. But after noon , things picked up for us , and we ended up landing 4 real nice eye's for the day...30 incher , a 27, and two 26 inchers, along with an over 30 pike. We were happy due to the conditions and seemingly slow going all around the bay. All the fish were taken on the same color pattern lures, at the same depth . We tried all kinds of stuff , and every color of the rainbow, and lots of presentations, at all depths from the surface to 40 feet , but only one combo of color and depth took all the bites!!!

After landing those beauties on sat, we were looking forward to sunday morning. Most of our bait and fish were gone from our sat afternoon spots, a lot of the bait headed from the mouth of the bay , to way into the bay . But we managed to have steady action 'til our quitting time of 12 /12:30 sunday. We had like 13 hits.....3 more big eye's, another 30 incher , a 28 and another over 25 brute too , 3 nice pike 30 to 34 , a monster smallie, a big brawling sheepshead, and a nice 6lb brown...along with a few more lost big (eye's)and pike. Again, all our fish came on the same saturday combo , despite the wind and water changes. We could have fished with just 2 rods to catch our fish...all the other stuff was dead for us !

Icedd and I had a great time, met a bunch of nice people, and caught some awesome NY state walleye's!! What a place!!Here are a couple of pics....

  4. yea i didnt see the other birds on the ground when i click on the pic it actually gets smaller ,must be a setting on my puter...one of the spots i hunt in the fall is on a steep side mtn .. and their are 2 eagles who visit on ocasion prety cool looking down on them as they fly down the river path.

Thanks for sharing...mywifes notebook is too small for my ageing eyes or my mom was right about what causes blindness.. :(

Hey Ray...no problem...my eyes are definately failing me too...especially low light situations or smallprint etc.. Man, my mom was right too!!! Funny !!

Sounds like a nice spot to hunt, probably not to many people or houses around...and you get to see bald eagles while waiting for that bomber buck to show up !!!

And good luck to you Ray this year on the Big Pond, whether just fishing for fun , or fishing the tournaments. I Love your fishing trip stories...you make us all laugh. And we get to learn stuff from you from all your years , day's and hours you've spent on the water. Putting the time in , and trial and error ,is the key to learning and having consistent success...and you seem to have done that. Sometimes the unluckiest and smallest little details can mean the difference in an ok box and a full HEAVY box.!! Looking forward to your fishing adventure stories this year....GOOD LUCK....choo choo

  5. looks like a young bald eagle they dont get a white head for a year or two

    Nailed it.

Nailed it???...actually they don't get their adult white head and tail feathers until their about 5 years old. The 3 turkey vultures on the ground in the picture (there was a bunch more vultures in the trees)definately kept their distance from this mature eagle...and they jockeyed around, but would not get close to the eagle or the fish . They did not enjoy each others company,as i got to watch them from my kitchen at about 20/25 feet for a few minutes , before the eagle took off with my walleye !! The ugly vultures hung out in the red oak, until i wallked out to flush them. It was a great experience being so close for so long , and would gladly "accidently" sacrifice a walleye, or trout for that matter to a bald eagle anytime. I love having the eagles around , and i consider myself lucky to live with them here on the Delaware. They are really special birds, incredible eyesight and flying abilities...awesome hunters and parents... the top of the food chain here on the river.

Oh, I got you now Ray....The pictures are not that clear ..taken through my patio door glass. But you can kinda make out the "ugly" vulture head on the one way to the left, peeking out from behind the porch post.

  7. I got home late after a long drive home from Mexico Bay last year. I was way too tired to clean my fish - 3 , 18/19 inch browns and a 19 in.walleye . I took them out of the cooler the next morning and layed them out on my lawn . I then went back into the house to get my fillet knife .....got sidetracked with a phone call...then as i got to the kitchen i looked out and saw the fish thieves!!!! A mature bald Eagle and some turkey vultures. I grabbed the camera, and was able to get a few pictures through the patio door glass. The vultures kept their distance from the fish, and the Eagle...but they annoyed him a little too much , so he flew off with one of my fish!!! Guess which fish he took off with?

  8. Hey WM ... icedd and me will either be up there ...or on oneida for opening week-end....not sure which yet. If we head up to your waters , we will definately give you a shout. Good luck !!

  9. I am looking for a storage facility near Syracuse/Baldwinsville to keep my boat and truck for this season. I want to "commute" back and forth from my house down in Lordville ,up to the boat in my little Nissan Sentra. Then it would be a much shorter tow ,west, north or east from there to Lake Ontario or Oneida Lake. Any info would be appreciated.( Then in a year or two, i want to get a little trailer in one of the trailer park/campgrounds in the Sodus-FairHaven-Oswego area)
