  1. gander mt has the hooks in fly section or as I say flea section...

sz 18 or even 20 are what i find success with

most important is the smooth lift when smelto polo bites..

    up and out.

    lets talk about cooking them.

my fav.. cut head and sqweeze out guts... dip in egg and crushed pringles..

    fry in wesson oil..

tasty little mysterious dish I call..

    el smelto polo pringlelicious...

  2. fisherman first off ROCK ON

a trick for smeltos is size 18-20 fly hook and pinch a small black splitshot by the eye of hook.

tip with ONE maggot and I use a small float.

JUST LIFT THE LINE SMOOTHLY IN ONE SMOOTH MOTION WHEN SETTING HOOK.

up and out... the unlucky smelt will usually just fall off the hook.

when you get good you can use 2 rods and fill a bucket in no time..

haven seen smelt yet but should in a week or 2.. rock on

  6. How many copies have you sold machine ?

I will be up this weekend for the first time from boat...CANT WAIT. The drifts i love are artpark and lower stella, and when the conditions are right for the bar its awesome  . I have never been to the canadian side but when i get a boat (hopefully for next winter) i will get over there. I think the niagara is my favorite fishing spot. Something about the feeling of waiting to see that big steelhead, laker, brown coming out of the depths of that beutiful green water.

    cant remember off hand...

I think it was none :(

I still have faith though

  7. you know what really bugs the machine?

companies that change or discontinue certain color combos for lures and such.

first rapala and storm discontinue their most productive patterns and in exchange

come out with people attracting patterns.

I cant find black edged spin doctors anymore(anybody help)

    just venting...

  8. I'm sure volumes have been written on this subject here, but with the recent excellent threads regarding deer numbers I thought I'd start a new one.

What have you guys seen as for mid- day movement just before and around the opener of gun season? My experience here in NY and on a couple hunts in the past in IL was very poor morning hunts. Mid-day could be good if weather was conducive. Evenings usually OK. I'm wondering if the reports of low sightings this year could in part be due to the Full moon hitting right at the same time the pressure hit. What have you farmers and "students" of wildlife movement observed this year as well as past years? I am specifically talking about natural movement and not bumped or driven deer.

vinny, my exp. has been mid day a great time for movement specifically 10am to 2pm.

maybe they get hungry or restless but I do see deer moving.

I dont hunt deer much anymore but have a first row seat from my couch watching the "back 40".

had huge 10 point that made his rounds of my property around 10 am each day...

havent seen him for 3 weeks :(

the rut plays a major factor for sure

as far as moon playing a roll?

    of course it does...

this world operates by its own

you cant see everything with your eyes...
