  1. Now I don't feel so bad. I did one laker in 3 hours in dresden friday night, and went zero for zero :o today out of watkins glen. Whats happening? Is the lake starting to setup? If I remember right it did this last year just before the derby. I haven't been able to get much going for a couple weeks now. :(

Today was bad all around. No electric start on the boat, had to pull start it, got it narrowed down to the solenoid, Lost a spinnie and fly on the bottom, ;( get it up on plane coming in and the alarm goes off low oil in the resivoir (2 stroke) Hope it gets better next weekend.

If it was easy it wouldn't be fun. Relax :beer: we'll get'em next weekend when it matters.

  2. This is all preference. Unfotunately there is no magic distance. I like to keep the same amount of line out at all times. (100ft) That means if i'm running shallow I have a longer lead. i.e. Down 10 back 90 This allows fish to "regroup" after the boat passes before the lure gets there. The C.O.D. (cone of displacement, look this up if haven't heard of it) is important. It will very on depth water clarity, chop, etc. The off fish (RT,BT,LL) I always like a longer lead. When running deeper that changes. i.e. down 60 back 40 There the boat doesn't have as much effect as the ball does. Lure types differ also. I run alot of flashers 5ft off the ball down 50-90 ft, I have seen them run shallow with a long lead but need to be taken down and brought back up. The distance from the ball changes the action on these. Also there are down and out setups being your outside riggers are the deepest and also the longest lead. resembling trailing bait from your setup. :talk::talk: I'm hoping i covered the basics and maybe one of the oldtimers can chime in and correct me.

As for speed watch the action of your lure before you put it down if your spoons are light they will spin out in faster speeds. Other than that, down speed is more important this factors in currents that you don't get with GPS. I fish mainly the fingerlakes(Seneca) and run just Fishfinder speed. I know you heard of running S turns. This works if you pay attention to which rod fires and where the lure was at the time. Inside or out. :talk::talk:

By the way I'm a newbie (1year trolling) and this is the way I do it. I'm sure others could get more in depth.

Can someone else comment so I know if i'm wrong. ;)

    Good Luck to ya

  3. That's too bad. That'll give them a false sense of security. We can run away with the next one. Can you tell us what fish were used. i.e. 1 LT used from 711Skwerlz It would be interesting to see who's catching what, if more guys would post. Besides we all love pics.

  4. My thoughts exactly. I already had to move my net holder to keep it off the antenna. But the folding base is slick for trailering and for the cover. One down side is people don't realize I have a radio when were on the water.

  5. Team seneca

Great day fishing went 22 for 29 all lakers. Fished near dresden launched from Sampson. Good quality fish all day. The wife and I had a blast. :):) Not as busy as friday night but steady pick all day on both wires and riggers. A couple doubles kept the excitement up.

  6. Just some feed back after re terminating the coax I now have great reception. Last night I was talking to justin from Sampson, He was at serverne. Thats all I was looking for. :):) Thanks guys!!

  7. I was told before how to release them. Only had one that had problems, :( we netted him back up about an hour later and took'em for the smoker. :) All others swam away fine. I haven't fished with jason yet but maybe I should so he could teach me how to "burp'em"

  8. I stopped by and picked up some BW flies this week. I just heard about your shop last week and needed to check it out. Great little place. We need a local place to pick up things like these. Welcome to the site. Didn't realize you were on here till now. Jason will point you in the right direction with those flies. The pole dancer and proctologist put alot fish in my boat tonight. Thank you.

  9. This might give the Seneca team some hope. Made the run to dresden and it really paid off. fished from 5:30 pm to 8:00pm.. Toataled 20 for 24 all lakers. :D:clap::D Spinnys and flies. First time ever to break the 20 mark in one day couldn;t imagine if we had gone earlier. My brothers loved it. Some doubles, triples, and one quad. It was crazy. Chinese fire drills all night. At one point I had two rods(both with fish) in my right hand and netting a fish with my left waiting for someone to finish and take one. Smallest ones went 3lbs and the largest was 8 .75. Never had to release 6 and 7 lb fish before. See ya out there saturday.

Test run on my new riggers went great Thanks Gezijames
