  1. Hey man. i see u took the top off our old boat, i meant to swap those track lock bases out but it looks like your allready bought matching gear. good to see your using the boat its a good one i know we cought a pile of fish out of it.

Yeah the "top" :wondering: didn't work for me, it is a GREAT boat, I was really surprised that with that many rivets that there was absolutely no leaks ! & the motor just purrs  I was going to make it a "project" boat this Winter & strip her down to her back bone, but with ALL the good things about the boat I don't see it happening right now :whew: ................The plus was the "sausage" :D

  2. Great job and excellent report!! Your figuring this whole thing out pretty quickly... keep up the great work!!

Well Mike, between your expertise & gear selection @ Hills, Valleys, & Streams, & neighbors like Sean & Terry Brown, EVERYBODY on "LOU" it's like a open book test

  3. Hit Keuka State Park @ 6AM, went 9 for 16 on lakers, ALL but 2 came on the "Reel Hooked Up" fly, 1 came on a "Seneca Ghost", and 1 came on a plug called a "Live Target Blue Back Herring", definitely was a Spin Doctor/Dipsey Diver Fly bite, tried EVERYTHING, was on the West side, marked fish from 50' to 150', the bottom fish being more receptive, we fished in 160'-165' FOW, could not buy a bite on the riggers, magnum Dipsey's set back 150' #2 setting, 330' & 420' #3 setting on the wire rods were the producers, had our first double! we were a ways past the Bluff (see picture for distance past Bluff) before filling our limit for the table for 3 anglers, we were off the lake by 12:30, the winds that were forecast for 9:30AM held off till we left

  4. I'm sure sean has sent you some good advice. He has helped me before as well. At the speed you are running, make sure the swivel is attached to the front hole of the spinny.

I can tell you I had a triple one time all flasher/flies. I was trolling with a buddy and both wire divers got hit as I was hooking a flasher/fly to the rigger release. I set the pole down and reeled one wire while my friend reeled the other. We were racing to see whose fish would get netted first when the flasher skimming the top of the water 15' behind the boat gets hit! Obviously this was a crazy fluke (I happened to be in a hot spot when fish were active). Like any lure...get the presentation right, put it in front of the fish, and give it time.

X2 on the Sean Brown advice

  5. Sounds like you did an excellent job!

Just add some fish pics next time :)

Your absolutely right Sir, needed fish pics...............they were just Keuka Lake over abundant lakers, pan fish size after heading & tailing, you know the "tasty" ones with butter salt, pepper & a little lemon juice & a frosted beer mug full of Bully Hill Goat wine ;)

  6. Great Job! My dad just showed me the pic of Sierra in the game and fish Mag  You fishing this weekend if so get with me I have some good spoons for you to run. I will even let you have hooks this time. Sean

I leave the weekends to "Charter Captains", usually get the Grand Daughter on the weekends. Mike supposedly sold me the "good" spoons. Hey one of my wire rods got all pig tailed & a nasty kink happened, gotta cut off & put a new end on, I'm looking for the size of the crimps......Mike says "hardware" stores...........none that I find.......& Hills, Valleys & Streams when asked says ..."Mike's on vacation".........can't win, anyhow I don't want to buy 100 of every size to get the ones I need DOH ! :@ Don't want this rod out of service the next "Thursday" HELP !

  7. FIRST time I owned a boat with a steering wheel & a key, FIRST time trolling without paying a charter captain, FIRST time I didn't curse New York State @ a boat launch :P, & now FIRST time I do a report for "LOU" 8) , went 6 for 9 for lake trout, out of Keuka State Park 1ST loss was not knowing you don't have to "rip their lips off setting the hook"(FIRST mate), 2ND loss was by me beating a fish with the landing net instead of netting it (it's my boat) 8) , that was "our" FIRST two fish, we had 1 that just became our FIRST "unbutton", 5 of our fish came on a local charter captains fly, I refuse to give him anymore advertising, especially since his Daughter & him are in this months New York State Game & Fish Magazine, so let's just say it starts with Reel Hooked Up & ends in fly & 1 on a spoon, "rotten veggies" all on the West side & anywhere from 50'(dipsey's) to 80'(riggers), had our limit before we reached the bluff 100-160 FOW, a nice South wind came up that blew us right on up on our trailer  All in all it was a most excellent bluebird day for a pair of FIRST time solo trollers :clap:8)

  9. Okay, my shake down day is this coming Thursday, rain or shine :D thought I would pop my proverbial trolling cherry on Keuka with it's abundance of lakers :D Which launch guys ?, need to catch some fish, & learn some equipment, chart plotter/fish finder, FX4......
