    C/S Cup week three weights

    I hope these don't count but my biggest three were 4.25, 4, and 4 lbs. The rest were 3 and under. Caught a ton of fish but couldn't get any size this weekend.

    I went up to the Oak on Friday and our group went 22 for 28 with a 20 Lb King and a 15 lb laker....I guess they wouldn't count though :devil:

    Yea, these guys are correct. You are going to have to go about 4 miles south to get to the deeper water. The further south you go the deeper it gets. If you want to just catch a few fish for your buddies, troll some stickbaits up in that north end near the park and you'll catch more 20+ inch Pickerel than you can shake a stick at. You'll also probably land a 4 or 5 lb Bass too!

    Many of us are on 68 if you have a radio do a shout out. I'll probably be out this weekend.

    2011 Cayuga Seneca Cup Dates !

    This year is going to be a little different. Teams will not be limited to just there home lake, on any given weekend, members of either team may fish either Cayuga or Senaca.

    Scoring will be the same. Send in weight of your heaviest five fish. I will take the heaviest five from all team members and that will be the weekly total for the team. I will also track who contributes to the weekly totals so we know who, at the end of year, has contributed the most , second most, third and so on to the winning teams total. This information will be used to set the pay out for the winning team. Losing team gets nothing.

    Entry fee will be $80. Based on two 5 man teams an example payout is below.(once teams are set a pay out schedule will be adjusted to match number of entries. ALL money will be payed out.

    1st. $230

    2nd. $155

    3rd. $130

    4th. $105

    5th. $80

    This leaves $100 to be used for a $10 weekly lunker fund. ALL money will be paid back.

    Please choose your team on this thread so we can get a count. PM me for payment info.

    Schedule of events will show tourney's if they are the same time frame (two birds with one stone) if interested. Both days of the weekend can be fished to help those with tight schedules or to fish around bad weather.

    2.May 21-22 (B & B Spring)

    3.May 28-30 ( 3 day National LT Derby)

    4.June 11-12

    5.June 25-26

    6.July 9-10 (Red Cross)

    7.July 23-24 (24th LOU-ALL)

    Got out around 7:30am and fished the same spot that Justin fished and landed 12. Couldn't mark a fish or move a rod for about 1 hour. Moved to East side of Lake north of Long Point and got some info from Lil Jake who was catching a fair amount. Fished another hour or two and nothing. Changed colors, depths, speeds, styles and really struggled. After about 3 hours finally got a rod to move on a slider with wonderbread spoon. 19" fat LL Salmon....nice fish! Then about ten minutes later same rod hit really hard and pops downrigger. I told my buddies "finally" something hitting a spoon on the rigger and not the slider! My buddy start reeling and out jumps this very nice Rainbow. About 4 - 5 lbs. He actually hit the slider but hit it so hard he popped the rigger immediately! Went a little further and nothing. Turned around went over spot again and nothing. Trolled to West side and had a few hit and release. finished up at 3 pm with a Double header of Lake trout about 1.5 miles north of Sheldrake. All in all we boated about 5 fish and lost 3 or 4 but it was a realllllly slow day for us and not what I was hoping for.

    All fish landed came on down riggers and only had 1 or 2 bites on the divers but nothing landed on them.

    dec just stocked 21000 ll at t falls and 21000 at deans 2 weeks ago

    That must have been what i saw. They were schooled up like crazy and were not balls of bait either. I was amazed how many fish I was seeing. The were spread through all depths from about 30 - 120 feet deep if I remember right.

    No problem with the tow. Hopefully if I ever need a tow someone will return the favor. I only caught one laker but only had lines in for a little while. Man, I have never marked as many fish as I did on that outing. I was going over schools of fish numbering in the thousands... and not bait fish either. I wonder if the DEC just did a stocking or something.

    I know the 3 of you Nick, Sean, and Jason fish out of Watkins and it seems to make sense to do the weigh in down there.

    Here is why I think you should do the weigh in at Sampson. We don't need an "official scale". We can use anyone's scale just like we did for big fish Friday....as long as you use the same scale for all of the fish.

    I think Sampson would be better because many many many more guys will be fishing out of Sampson vs Watkins and many more will be fishing out of Geneva. I for one don't mind driving from Geneva down to Sampson for the weigh in but I can't see me driving almost an hour to Watkins one way. I'm sure many other guys feel the same way. Most guys wont want to drive down from Sampson to Watkins if they don't have a big bucket of fish to weigh in.

    If you want to have lots of boats in the competition, have the weigh in at Sampson. If you want to make sure YOU don't have to drive up to Sampson then have it at Watkins.

    We alway's catch fish on copper, my fishing partner has to pull copper down the chute or he gets bored. Sunday morning he pulled in 30' of water with 150 out an caught lakers.

    They are not talking about "pulling copper". They are talking about a cooper spooled reel that would be similar to fishing with lead core line. Basically they have a humongous reel with 300 - 600 feet of copper fishing line and they let it out until it sinks down deep like you would with lead core. Reeling it in will wear your a$ out. :o

    It was good meeting more of you guys. We had a pretty big fish on Friday that we threw back but in hind site we should have brought it in. It was 6-7 lbs on my scale but I didnt think it was big enough. It did look about as big as the fish that won.

    It was actually me, my girlfriend, and her Father that caught the 5th place Lake trout. It was only like 32" long but was exactly 11.50 lbs. It was 3rd place until late Saturday but slid down to 5th. I was hoping to catch another 7+lb fish to get my girlfriend on the board but it was not to be. We did catch a 7 lb 10 oz laker on Saturday morning but she was not fishing with us so that didnt count for her. Everything else was in the 4- 6 lb range. We went about 10/12 Saturday, 4/6 Sunday, and about 5/7 on Monday.

    That friggin lake is tough fishing and in my mind has wayyyyy less fish than Cayuga. My fish finder marked about 1 fish per hour and very little bait the whole weekend. I did not fish in close where I am told most of the bait was located but still...

    My down speed I tried to keep at 1.9, and that puts my gps at a 2.3 or 2.4. Wire and braid are very different but I would have to say they are pretty close or braid runs deeper cause of the smaller diameter. I keep my inside dipsys

    Wire runs deeper than braid. I have one dipsy rod with 30 lb braid and two with 50 lb wire and the wire rods always hit bottom before the braid. Probably due to the physical weight of the wire. Standard size divers seem to max out around 90 feet deep at the deepest....unless you run reallllly slow. Magnums will get down deep and at higher speed. If you want to get down to 100 feet while trolling at 2.8 like you would for King Salmon you probably cant do it with standard sized divers in my opinion and experience.

    Spent Saturday Installing a Reman. in the boat but Sunday after dinner I did sneak out with Wayne for an hour and a half. My side of the boat pulled a 3 lber

    Glad buck pulled the weight for our team this week!
