Hi Wayne...i beleive that you guys were in Aurora Bay....maybe in Trophy.Are you guys fishing the B&B this weekend?We still have a shot for the boat to be ready..............Zeke & Cyn(Strike 3)

That was us that you saw when you were being towed back. I can't fish the B&B because I have a meeting in Chicago Friday and Saturday. I'll be back Sunday around noon and am hoping to get out Sunday later in the afternoon/evening.

I sort of forgot about the no wake zone and may have violated it!!!!!

Have ur dad give me a call if you want more to run more lines on sat. I would love to keep plugging along trying to figure it out but i owe you guys for all the help. If you need more bodies to try out running more lines I'm in.

Hey Hal, good talking with you Saturday on Cayuga. Normally I would have expected to boat at least 12 - 20 fish but for some reason it was VERY tough on Saturday. I won't be out this weekend except maybe Sunday late afternoon/evening. Then fishing the Derby memorial weekend. I'll look for you next time I'm out.

"Balls Deep"

Fished with Jason "Zebedee" on Saturday morning north of Deans Cove and the fishing was SLOOOOOW. 5 - 6 hours on the water and a total of 3 fish. Best one was this small brownie that maybe was 2 lbs or so. Very pretty fish but not very big. We started out fishing south of Deans on the Western shore and water was very cold on the surface and down deep. It was about 38 degrees on top. Moved up into North end in about 150 feet of water and found 42-44 degree water on top and down deeper. Marked lots of bait and lots of fish. Couldn't get any takers except a small LL salmon that we lost at the back of the boat.

Decided to change up our program to a Brown trout program. Headed to Eastern Shore in 20-40 feet of water flatlining and fishing shallow. Finally got the Brown to go on a 2.5" stinger spoon, mixed veggies color, on a slider down about 15 feet right in the prop wash. Also caught this small laker flat lining a jointed stick bait. Very strange day on the water. We couldn't get anything going and everyone I talked to out on the water was having similar results. Marked a lot of fish and bait but none of them were hungry. Both fish were released to get bigger!

Did talk with the "Hanna Marie" and they were having about the same success. Most everyone else was pretty tight lipped but i didn't see any nets out.

I have been trying to get them to change the 6 AM Saturday start time for several years now (without success). I think it should be earlier. Dawn is around 5AM and almost everyone is out there and fishing before 6 AM. (There has been some talk of DQing anyone who fishes on Saturday before the official start time).

Things will not change unless you voice your opinion.

I don't see an issue with starting before 6 am. The official start time should be midnight and the weigh station should not open before 7 am at the earliest.

why did they change the dates after 40 pluss years?

O.K. guys. I'm probably in which means you can all save your money and fish another Derby That means I'm in for the derby, in for the Big fish Friday and in for memorial weekend beers. Hide your secret lures, beers, and girls cause Bigdaddy is heading to Sampson!

I wasn't going to fish it this year. Was going to hit Lake O out of Point Breeze but now you guys are firing me up! Hmmmm, I'll have to figure this out now. Haven't reserved a slip but I assume they still have some left. I don't think they sold out last year???

If you ever launch at Long Point again, go straight across the lake until you get near the West shore in about 150 feet of water, turn North and stay between 180 and 80 feet. Lots of nice Rainbows in there last year.

Or, this time of year launch out of Long Point get to the center of the lake, turn north and run a few miles North until it gets as shallow as about 170 feet deep. Start setting Laker gear and head due north in the center of the lake. Right around 150 feet deep in the center of the lake as you are heading north it is a really hot spot this time of the year for big Lakers.

I don't think Seneca Boys want to go. I don't hear much from them and they are probably sill stinging from that whoopin they took last year.

We might have to do a Fingerlakes cup, get a list and pick two teams if the Seneca Guys wuss out.

Control King does make a bracket for New and old yamahas. The reason I am choosing control king is that one of the guys who sells them is on this site and is willing to give us LOU guys a good deal from the factory. I think he quoted me 191 delivered to the door. I'm with sean on that one thought. I disconnect my batterys when not in use.

Also, I did find a used Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke kicker Last night with all the bells and whistles. Anybody own one that is not a high thrust and have any feedback.

I have a 2008 Yamaha 20 HP 4 stroke standard thrust on my 22' Trophy Walk Around...AND I have the Controll King. Motor will troll my boat as slow as .5 and at wide open in smooth seas will go about 8 knots or so. My kicker is tapped right into my main fuel line which is awesome having 82 gallons to troll with! The only "issue" with the 4 stroke is the fact that if you have to buy a mounting bracket for the motor you have to buy a good one to support the extra weight. I paid about $300 for my bracket.

Controll King...awesome. Takes 15 or 20 minutes to install and works great. I did have to fiddle with the bracket and rod they sent me because it hits my cowling. I think I have it perfect right now. Not sure if they sent me the wrong bracket or what the deal is.

I'd be happy to show you my set up any time you are out in mid Cayuga area.

I just installed autopilot on my boat and tried it for the first time yesterday. I can only say what everyone else says....I will NEVER own a boat without one again. It is awesome...so much easier and enjoyable to fish with the auto pilot on.

I fished Cayuga and picked up a bunch of slob Lake Trout...didn't really target anything else.

I am in for sure. I can't fish Cayuga on April 30th/May first because I arrive in the Florida Keys on the 30th for a week of fishing. Maybe I'll target Tarpon that weekend. Can I count a 100+ lb Tarpon if I catch one?

Those big Slob Lakers are in the same area they were in last Spring. I slammed 5 or 6 and lost a couple in 2 hours fishing by myself yesterday in that area. Biggest just over 8 lbs but the rest were 5 - 6 lb range.

Wow! Any thing else biting besides Lakers over there yet? I may make a trip just to slam a bunch of them Lakers. That should be a blast. With screens like that should be like shooting fish in a barrel....literally!

You know I admire the stones you guys have fishing in the 16' boat. I was just reading a saltwater fishing forum where this guy in South Florida takes his 16' boat offshore 15-20 miles at night and is catching 200-300 lb swordfish in it. THAT takes some stones!

We going to do the league again this year? It was a blast whooping those Seneca guys. After that embarrassing defeat I doubt they want to play this year but we should see. If they don't want to do it, maybe we a North South Cayuga Lake league with Sheldrake being the cut off? Or, maybe a Cayuga Seneca north/south with Sampson being the cut off on Seneca?

That's funny that you saw all kinds of fish on the finder. We didn't see many at all. You are right that the 130 -150 range was the hot water depth. I cannot believe how big the lakers are up in that area in the spring. They seem to move south of Deans by beginning of Summer but in the Spring they are big and nasty up there. I agree that they are putting up a good fight too. Once you get over 5 or 6 lbs they usually fight like hell.

Those fish are the reason that the Seneca Guys cannot keep up during our Seneca - Cayuga league

P.S. If any of you EVER see me buy a copper set up please wrap it around my neck and throw me over board and put me out of my misery. I reeled in 600 feet once and will NEVER do it again....unless I am on someone else' boat and have a 30 LB King Salmon on it

We passsed you. The old man said thats probably stoutner, and i said no he has a green top. I guess i'm wrong lol. great quality fish up there. We had our radio off, otherwise i would have filled you in. sorry about that. we always have it on but we had some battery concerns on our first trip out. Good luck this year, and next time we will have the vhf on.

I do have a Green Bimini top usually. Just didn't have it on for this trip. I will usually have it on though.

I think I saw you out there. I had my radio on 68 and tried to see if anyone was talking but no one would answer me. This was caught dead center of the lake heading North from Deans/Long Point where the water starts to get shallower...like 150 feet deep in the center.
