  6. Just be careful that when you release the buckle your fingers are clear I almost lost a finger nail last year when I went to open mine

  8. there both great units. i prefered the older lowrances over the new ones. in the end i went with HB
  9. go tho the simrad site and download the manual
  10. it shouldnt turn on unless it has a signal because there is no compass telling it if its on course or not. which gps are you running if its HB then i will grab my manual and see which wire is input/output
  11. i dont think you need a compass for a autopilot unless you want it to hold a specific heading. if you hook it up to your gps the gps will drive your pilot. when i use my gps to hold a heading it tracks much smoother. the compass my unit came with doesnt do as well as my gps
  12. the NEMA output on my unit came from the GPS antenna. i have a humminbird 1197. i hooked the nema up to my simrad unit and it worked great.
  13. thanks for the help. ill post the install come spring
  14. the boat weighs around 12,000lbs. thanks
  15. i agree what a waste of a ton of cash
