Smith Park on Senecca lake was the first camground my wife and kids stayed when we still lived in NJ. First time we visited Finger Lakes and fell in love with the area. Watkins Glen has a lot of things to do and see. The Glen is a beautiful Park to hike. Good shopping and restaurants for the wife and Its not too far to the other Lakes. Roosterfish Brewery in Watkins.

The one thing I found about the Finger Lakes way back when is that they have great Parks.

most of the docks I see have decking that is just lying in place and not fastened, Forget to remove it at the end of the season and its gone. It should be required to bolt that stuff down. A real hazzard to the boats.

Opened my cottage at Starkey. Water was as high as the docks. Watch out for floating decking on the lake. Seems quite a few were missing peices. Was told by my neighbor, water was 6" higher Weds.

A great site for those just getting into yakking or those already  into yakking is New England Kayak Fishing or NEFK. I have learned a hell of a lot from a couple of those guys. Some of them are LOU members and i fish with thm and vica versa when I get a chance. Athough the site is primarily New England, they focus on both the slt and sweet water and are a helpful group for yakkers, boaters and shore bums.

Archman and Ed, Thanks for the pms. Even though the fish was caught in 10 feet of water doesn't mean that an accident can't happen. The water temp was in the mid 30s and the air temp was? Rule of thumb for safe yakking is water+air temp=100. yakker should be prepared for the worse,( even in warmer temps),and dressed appropriately in the event of a swim. . One misshap and it is re-entry time. Just looking out for a fellow yakker. Be safe. Been in some snotty situation in the yak. Need any advice, I would be glad to give any help at all. More and more people are getting into yakking. Flyboy, Jude, would also give any help if needed. He lived on Lake O last year.

A friend of mine from Long Island loves fishing with Suttons. He usually buys them when he is up in the Castkills area. My question is are Suttons available to purchase from the place in Naples of do you have to purchase them from a distributor. He would like to order some. And if so, where would you purchase them from.

Popping noise acts as an attractor to whatever is used as bait behind the cork. I use a splasher and fly for fishing for albies at the Cape. Splasher is nothing more than a float which is filled with water to aid in casting the fly far enough to the fish and acts similar to the cork. Old timers would use wooden floats to achieve the same effect. One word for a splasher and fly rig........Deadly.

Butterfly jigs are deadly for big fish, I use them in sweetwater and salt out of the yak.

How big and impact are they having on the area you hunt? Definitely affecting deer where I hunt in Bloomfield.

1 ounce is what I use out of the yak. And definitely a line counter if you are going to troll. Will allow you to consistently get in the right depth.

Thanks ERABBIT. They were in a straight line which was puzzling to us. I would figure if they were a type of jug, it would be a nightmare to clear the lines. They were also using downriggers.

Guys, thanks for the response. We too were fishing with Seth green rigs and at first I thought they were jug rigs. But it seemed that the three floats were all running in a row, one behind the other. Randy has been running Seth Green rigs and jugs for years and he couldn't figure out what there were. That is why I figured I throw it out to the knowledgeable people on this forum.

Fished Seneca this a.m. out of Starkey on my neighbor Randy's boat along with neighbor Brett. Was choppy with SW wind but looked very promising. Marked a ton of fish but no takers except one laker. Threw everything but the kitchen sink. Were a couple other boats in the area and one boat indicated he had caught 3 fish. My question is this, we thought that boat was fishing with outriggers but after further notice, it appeared they were more like balls floating behind the boat. I though they were balloons but we noticed there were 3 of these objects floating, one behind the other, red and yellow in color. Any idea what they were? Fleas were also an issue except on the blood run line. No a one.
