  1. Anyone fishing virginia beach lately? Looking to go up for the day on saturday if onieda isnt safe. Im wondering what the ice is looking like before I drive up. Also looking for an access spot where im not gonna get a ticket/towed while im fishing. Im open to other bays on the south end of the lake too just have been hearing good reports from virginia beach and alot of dinks in cooks bay. Any help is appreciated PM me if needed. Thanks -Eric

  2. Thanks for the tips landshark. I'm eating my breakfast waiting for my dad to get out of work at 10 and we will be on our way. I just hope we make it for the night bite. As long as we don't get screwed in toronto traffic we should be fine

  3. My dad and I went over to canada yesterday and got our licenses. I was hoping to get an early start but my dad has to go out to in to work for a few hours. And then were leaving I was hoping to be able to hit the night bite before it was too late. I am calling verizon to be able to use my pphone in canada without getting an astronomical bill. I guess they have an international calling thing if you plan on being out of country and use your phone

  4. I've been out getting stuff ready all afternoon. I think I have everything together. I bought a 50 ft rope incase I have to be fished out of the bay. I picked up a few lindy darters, anyone do good with them things? Anyways what time is everyone planning on arriving in napanee? I am leaving the buffalo area around 11 AM and plan to arrive around 3 or 4 depending on toronto traffic. What time are we leaving to fish Saturday morning and where are we meeting up. With the mild temperatures up there this week are we going to be able to get out on 4 wheelers?

  5. i added them on facebook today. they posted that they gott 11 this morning and a pice of a nice 8 or 9 lb walleye. I have been showing my dad pics of the walleyes theyre getting up there and he cant wait to catch these guys.

  6. I have a vexilar fl-8 and as stated above i am very happy with mine. The fl-8 maximum depth is 120ft. if you want to fish deeper your gonna need one of their other units. I have never fished over 40 ft on the ice but id like to get out after some lakers and test out the unit at 100 ft. Some other features the other vex/marcum models offer are bottom zoom with is nice when fishing the bottom which i normally do but is not neccesary just a nice feature. you can change the vexilar transducer to a tri beam transducer if you want. I would get a case to protect it in transport and keep snow and water off it. I have herd good things about vex and marcum. never used a marcum but i wouldnt shy away from one. I have heard alot of good things about the lowrance x67 ice machine. It has a flasher and also bottom zoom and are about 250 dollars. Having a sonar is a huge benefit you will never fish without one again once you use one

  7. I was leaning toward the quinte ice fishing team. Id hate to drive up there from the buffalo area to not catch anything of break through and die because i was in the wrong spot. I was reading that when these guides bring you out they bring your out as a group...so you would be fishing with 8 other people you dont know. not that it would be a problem just wondering if there is any truth behind that. Is there anything I should get before hand lures or rods? I have a few 24" med rods and i think a 30" med rod I think I have 6lb line on them. maybe 4 on some. I have a few bigger jigging raps in gold and perch colors. Looking at sweedish pimples but the biggest ones I can find are size 5. I think I need alittle bigger. When the time comes let me know id like to give it a try up there and see how it goes.

  8. I dont know any guys on this site but im interested in BOQ. Ive been looking into making a trip and getting a guide up there. I think I saw a 1 day guide for like 175 or something. What do you guys normally use on them walleye? I have jigging raps and swedish pimples for eyes never really fished for them just caught them perch fishing

  9. i use 40 and 50 lb power pro on my reels. I use the diawa 47lc and okuma 45 and never had a problem with reels or braided line. I have 300 yards on my reels and it fits no problem I would go with tbromund suggestion with the 500 yard spools. the only reason i have 300 yards on my reels is because that was what the store had and I have plenty of room for more line. I also buy the dark colors green or black. remember to spool it on real tight. good luck

  10. I run an 8 hp tohatsu 4 stroke on my 17 1/2 ft aluminum with no problems. I was told to go with the 8 because it is a 2 cyl. (the smallest 2 cyl. tohatsu makes) and the 6hp is a 1 cyl. engine and it has alot of vibration. If you are near buffalo call or go over to obersheimers sailer supply on niagara st in buffalo and talk to paul. they are an authorized tohatsu dealer. theyll help you out with everything. also if you get the 8hp you can rebuild the carb and make it a 9.8hp

  11. it is a coast guard violation. It was strapped down and it was a back in the butt pulling the battery out everytime I put it away because something was drawing current and drained the battery so i just tossed it in the tray but didnt strap it. I have a battery box I have been intending to use, and I bought a battery disconnect switch 2 weeks before as well as a piece of wire to go from battery to switch and didnt get a chance to put it in. costly mistake for being lazy
