Seneca Where to take kids fishing on Seneca.
lakebound88 replied to My Time Out's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
If you're a mile north, you're in a good cove from what I have heard. If you do take the boat out, you shouldn't have to go far, but if you do head to sampson with the boat, the outside of that steel wall has plenty of fish. I see the guys fishing it with kids all the time catching... Nick Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!! -

Reminder the Seneca Lake 333 Tournament is coming up. Save the date. Not entered in the 333? No worries, you can still fish the open box event. Sign up ahead or at the weigh in. Visit the Seneca Lake 333 topic for rules and more info. With the lake fishing great tight now, I imagine it's going to be a big box. Nick Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Had another trip sunday morning. Group from maryland. Expecting the winds to show up early, we were lucky, it was just a steady west breeze. Had fish in the graph at setup, started hitting fish pretty quick. Managed lakers bows and salmon. The bows are plentiful, actually had more bows on than anything. Had a few we would of loved to see as well.. The gamblers are still producing. I played with the lead on a few, and tied them a bit longer, still producing with longer leads behind whichever attractor unit you decide to use. (Greens best). T cline moved up a little. Spoon riggers parked at 37 and 41. With cheaters. Stingers and FLT spoons were best in uv and missing paint on the stingers. I swear the more beat they get, the better. Deep riggers parked at 75 and 120 Deep divers at 195 out. High divers at 100 and 115 with spoons 100, 200 250 copper with spoons targeting silvers Leadcores been dead. Ball speed, best at 2.3 to 2.5. Zig zag, tighter the Zig, better the zag. Also, fish out of the comfort zones, and you'll stumble upon random schools of fish, if you get that bite, even if it's just one. Turn around, I'll bet you get another almost everytime. Weeds were present, but minimal. No spiny water fleas yet. Good luck. Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Down thete, I would work the 80 to 150 fow. And troll at a quick pace. The bows should be active in the top 50 fow. Also, the lakers have been most active in the bottom 30 fow in this range . Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Had a local group today out on the water. Had a great day. Fished same area as monday. Fish were DORECTIONAL. even matching the ball speed. Put well over 20 in the boat, but they kept 11 for the grille! Seneca is fishing great. Salmon and bows came high, 30 to 40 foot. Liking a bit bigger spoons. The gambler rigs were producing on divers and riggers. Riggers at 80 and 120 doing the work. Divers at 195(mags). Be out tomorrow! Good luck club guys on cayuga. Behind attractors. Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Here's a photo of the top producers. Play with the attractors to find out what's best. These have been my favorite colors. Fished from 1.8 up to 2.7 ball speed. The micros will produce a bit more for the stubborn bites. Nick Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Had a trip for a couple from new Jersey this morning. Of course, the rain just had to fall all morning long. Ran to my tracks from the weekend and set up, we'll began to set up, the gambler rig fired before I could get to rod number 3. I wasn't able to get a full spread out for about 45 minutes. The action was great and put many nice fish in the boat. Lakers, bows and salmon.. bows were hitting spoons out of temp in 59 to 63 degree water 25 to 40 down. Ended up keeping a few for the grille with overall catch in the double digit count. Couldn't ask for a better day of fishing, well, a bit less rain would have been nice. Senecas not the ghost town everyone says it is. Spoons were stingers fished on riggers divers and coppers. E chips with custom fly. Gamblers. Micros White glow and the green as well. On divers and riggers Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Fished friday evening for about an hour, testing out the new gambler rigs, micro rigs. These caught a few fish in just under an hour. Area fished: east side Surface temp:65 Down temp: 55 at 55foot. Speeds:2-2.7 Depth:100 to 120 Lure depth: 100 to bottom at all times. Dragging the ball best bite increase. Fished solo today, since I did so well the past few trips fishing silvers, I decided to see if lakers were starting to become more active since the derby. First light I fished high for silvers, no go, got a couple high out Of temp lakers, then slid over to the east side where I left off the night before. I didn't even get my 3rd rod in, and I was hooked up. For those who follow me on facebook, I'm sure you saw a few videos, with live feed. I fished 100 to 120 fow. Fishing the bottom 20 foot. Using the new micro rigs, I paired them up with the grease trap. The gamblers usually fished by many behind cowbells, dodgers and flashers, have been out fished with the trap for my experience. For 2 hours, I had the gambler, micro rig, ultra silver white glow, consistently firing, putting quality fish over the back of the boat. Caught many, that would have been derby fish a few weeks ago. For my experience with the gamblers, whether it be the regulars or the micro or even the magnums, I am tying them with the leader that's included, just about to the end of the line, the long leads have been working great, trolling these at about 2 to 2.7 ball speed (hawk). My best producers have been any if the chrome from sun up to sun down, first light and evening bites have been more so on the glow bodies. I have ran them successfully on riggers, dipsy and even copper. I imagine the attractor from big weenie, (grease trap) will be equivalent to the ones stinger makes. Unsure, as I've only ever had th grease trap. A bit pricey, but as I said, it's been out fishing the hammerhead cowbells and dodgers for me. If you don't have any gamblers, and are looking to increase the laker bites, try these out, they are not your normal spin n glows! I believe the tinsel and the double bodied setup makes the difference.. Nick Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Forgot to mention, dresden, from the outlet north is most productive. Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!

Fishing has been good near dresden. I have been working 50 to 200 fow fishing the top 50 foot producing many silver fish. Occasional laker mixed in. Troll fast and use brighter spoon, even on the overcast days. The t cline on the west side was around 30 while the east side was 50 as of sunday with that west sw wind Making your stories, Reel Stories, since 2011!!
