  1. I usually hit Keuka. In hammondsport at the viaduct. year before last I slayed em. Limited out in about half an hour. Not as good last year. Didn't limit out once. You have to be there on just the right day. Hard telling. Usually a day or two after a good rain storm is good.

  2. Hooking up cables to kicker. How do I want to go through the transom? I thought about putting a hole about a foot and a half to the right of the kicker and coming out that way. Leaving enough slack so that it won't have any problems raising or lowering. Don't know how to come out above it with a circle that won't kink when you lower it.

  3. I have had the unfortunate experience of having a dead battery out on the lake. Not a fun experience. Will always have 2 batteries and a switch. Usually run one battery one day fishing and the other the next. Just alternate from one to the other so that the batteries stay charged and last. That way, if something happens to my alternator or something, both batteries won't be dead. When one goes dead on you out on the lake, you can just switch batteries and be good to get back to dock.:)

  4. My advice is to make it so strong you'll never have to worry about it. The worst is when you accidentally/purposefully drag bottom. That tends to make the riggers jump a bit! :D:D:D

Better safe than sorry.... might want to remove just enough styrofoam. Screws are made for pull strength. Put any stress on them from the side and they snap like tooth picks. You had better go with bolts and a backer plate/board. You might be able to get away with screws as long as they are really heavy duty (lags) and you are screwing them into something thick.

    IMHO

  5. Hesselson's has a sale going on at the mall. Near ticket booth and across from Kay's. Girlfriend saw it and told me about it. Decided to swing up there. Probably only for this weekend so better run up there as the mall closes at 6 I think. Picked up cold gear camo underarmour for $30 a piece ($60 regular). Columbia waterproof rubber like shin high boots for $25 (usually $80). Fleece jackets, vests, and some other stuff. Excellent deals. Way better than their usual spring tent sale.

    P.S. nothing for fishing though...

  6. I may have to put em on my dogs. The older husky/shepherd loves to swim and the younger one don't know to stay in the boat!! :D:D

When the younger one was six months old I decided to take him for a ride in the truck on a nice sunny day. Went around a corner about 300 yds from the house and he decides to jump out the window!!!! Lucky for him I was only doing about 10 mph. If you can't tell by now, he is just a wee bit special! :D:D:D

  7. WOW! I would do em all day long for that money! :D

I'm doing mine myself. Here's a video of a guy doing it that's pretty good.

    Rack Steering

    Rotory Steering

I think the hardest part is pulling the cable out if it's tucked away in the gunnel or somewhere. Just remember to pull it towards the back and then the new goes in from the back. A new QC kit from Jamestown Distributors only runs about $150 and that gives you everything but the steering wheel. The QC (quick connect) cable doesn't have a nut on the front end so it'll be a lot easier to pull through. Made by Teleflex.

P.S!!!! Don't forget to tie & tape a rope to the cable before you pull it out!!!!

My cable wasn't hard to get to and it only took me about 10 - 15 min to totally dismantle the steering setup. You won't have to do that just to replace cable.

  8. It's not even on the trailer yet! :@ Still on blocks but getting closer.

Stopped up to Billy Bob's and dropped the cable off. He's going to take a look around to see if he's got anything handy. In the process of taking it off, I broke the plastic piece inside the rotary steering helm. Hopefully he's got just the plastic piece too! It's not too bad as I can get the entire kit for only $150ish.

While I was there I broke down and ordered the T4. Had enough of this i/o! :D

  9. I got ahold of Yamaha directly and when I said there were 5 wires coming out of it the guys was like "Huh?". Guess it's an odd model. Anyway, green is tach. The one set of black and yellow go to 12v key ignition. The other set of black and blue go to a warning light if I want to put one in. Probably will.

  10. Steering was bound up somewhere. Took the outdrive off (again) and tested steering back there. Everything appears good. Put it back on. Think it was just bound up where the gears mesh from the intermediate housing to the outdrive. Turned left fine. Went to turn right and it was a little stiff. Little more effort and WooHoo blew out the steering cable. Let's throw another hundred bucks at the boat! :@

16 days to launch. This is becoming more and more tentative! :D
