Geez, Andy, did you ever take into consideration the feelings of "Penny"? All she wants to do is fish. In fact, she doesn't like to be docked facing away from the lake.

I am very sorry to hear this, Tom. You definitely developed a marketing approach and wrapped it around Tournaments, and rightly so. Not only are these events exhilarating, but I personally feel that when "bite challenge", location, and of course landing them is taken into consideration, the species on Lake O provide the greatest Tournys of all.

I feel "Gill-T" has made a few valid points. These days I'm trying to "shoot from the hip" less. I am thoroughly investigating both sides. What do we constantly wish for? Bigger purses. If this change somehow leads to actually winning something with a 3rd place finish, by possibly attracting larger sponsors through TV coverage, then "show me" Pro-Am powers. I do however, feel that this was poorly handled. Of course using the length of Team names as an excuse is weak. Safety wise, however, using boat name and having boat adequately marked is proper and smart. I personally watched the Coast guard fly around looking for a Baha in a "sea of Bahas" last May.

The Tourny organizers can only hope they are right about this, and they do what you did. Take something that has been around awhile, re-invent it, market it better, make it better. Your track record speaks for itself, and so do your products.

Ultimately you have to make a business decision that is best for you. It won't be the same without your sponsorship, but I sure am glad you will fish them til your dying day, because I will too. I am proud to be your friend, and proud to be one of your Pro-Staffers. Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do to support our great fishery.

Bruce, I think we are "transitional" very early. The ones being caught are chock full of smelt and/or bugs. I don't think its the population, although stocking yearling Steelies into landlocked, dry tribs just because there is a fishing access parking area near is unwise. See you soon!

Had the wonderful experience of boating the 32lb 1st place King, for my customer and friend Dave Resetarits. If one thing jumps out, he fought it so long one of the crew members went back to reading the paper during the battle! We literally stared at the fish for an unusually long time as it lay on the deck. It was just so beautiful, shining right down to the tail. Incredibly thick, it was 42" long.

The Chinny blasted a double crush/white spin doctor with a mirage ATOMIK fly, at 70'. It did not run far, but it seemed to have unlimited stamina and short runs available.

We gathered our wits, and broke free from the mesmorizing sight of it as it lay there. Put it on the digital and knew we had to "run it in". Was actually relieved that it was 14oz lighter than the leader, and not an oz, as it bled in the cooler.

Man, this lake amazes me. We are fishing in "the good ole days" of Lake Ontario right now!

Nice thread guys. I thank the "Big Guy" all the time for this fishery, and the "Great" Lakes. I feel it is no accident that the Kings have taken so well to our Lake. Besides being so incredibly fun to fish for they are a huge part of the turn around of the ecosystem. It's win-win-win-win, did I say win? Absolutely NO rusty wind structures marring this pond.

As for the "monsters" coming from the lake or the tribs, the late Summer/early Fall water temps take their toll on the condition and "fatness" of the Salmon, especially in recent years. It just burns them up as they go off the feed and mill around waiting for run-off and cooler temps for spawning. I think if we are going to see exceptional sizes it will be by early September.

Paul can do a good job on the skin mount for you at Tri-state taxidermy. As for the replicas, consider my brother Mark of MP Reproductions @ 585--489--5245. He is fanatical about anatomical accuracy and realistic color. He only does fish reproduction and is an artist. He will want photos and length and girth measurements.

I am often a vocal critic of our D.E.C. in regards to under-stocking King Salmon. The fishery is cyclical, and I feel that if we push the envelope number-wise, the fleet will get 'em. More World Class Sportfishing action, instead of dead and dying baitfish.

I'm going to switch gears tonight, and recognize our dedicated hatchery personnel. Thank you very much, for the crop of "POWER" COHO terrorizing southshore anglers this Spring. It is only April, and there are scads of larger than normal Cohos around. They are the finest quality Spring silvers I have ever seen! Often overshadowed by our King fishery, this great fish is great fun and treasured table fare for our guests. The Kings are the fast ball, and the Cohos are the change up! We anglers realize the extra care these need in the hatchery, and we appreciate your efforts!!!

I have used a Fish Hawk 840 for years with great success. Went to the updated X-4 and it is fantastic.
