  1. Today, while waiting out the thunder storm, I read the signs posted at the Bemus Point launch. One of them said "to save a fish, cut your leader." Assured you the hook would dissolve and the fish would be fine. WRONG. ;(

Anybody have any pull with the NY DNR (or whomever is responsible for that sign)???? How about if we do a fund raiser to have new signs printed and posted at the launches, that say "Save a fish, Cut your hook!" I know we know better, but the non-musky fisherpeople don't. Can we take that sign down without going to jail???

  2. Capt. Larry and Zach,

These guys don't have any idea what they missed out on. I got the lures in the mail yesterday, and I'm overwhelmed (I'm never speechless). The workmanship and finish on these lures is without equal. It's going to be hard for me to put them in the water, as I don't want teeth marks on them! But, I will fish them, and they will get bit!

Zach and Mr. Stan Durst should be running classes on lure making and painting. They truly have to be seen to be appreciated. And I appreciate them!

Thanks again Zach, Mr. Stan Durst, Capt. Larry, Old Man, and every one that participated in this project!:clap:

  3. Zach,

Please don't take offense to me calling you the 'Master', but you are the only one I know of that has used the Musky Rockets, qualifying you as the most knowledgeable fisherman I know of.

My problem is I have about 20 baits that have one musky to their credit, and no baits with more than two. Always looking for that majic bait. I fished with Larry on Chautauqua at the end of June. He had 4 baits out and on one the lip came loose (after landing a fish) so he swapped it out for a new one. Bottom line 6 fish caught on 5 different Hi-Finn Trophy Divers.

I appreciate the info on the Rockets. Looks like I'm going to order a couple of Jointed 7" lures w/o rattles. I've always been partial to a Black Sucker pattern and a Jail Bird pattern, so I think I'll have him paint them special.

Thanks for all the info, and Keep up the posts!

  4. Zach,

Since you are the master of Musky Rockets, I need to know.......

6", 7", or 8", straight or jointed, and with or without rattles?

I don't want a complete collection(I don't have the $3,000), I'm just going to buy a couple (at least, for now) and I want to get it right.

Thank you, O' Musky Rocket Master,

  5. Nitro,

I copied this from Capt. Larrys web site:

The NY DEC in Albany,NY made a change in the type of food pellets to start the musky fry on to save money.By the time the hatchery personel found out they were not eating the new pellets and they got the old style pellets to the hatchery they lost most of the musky fry.Water temp had nothing to do with the die off.The NY DEC is trying to find another state that may have extra musky fry to trade for other fish spieces fry.

  6. I know what you mean. So many auctions going on, bids here, bids there, I've been having trouble keeping them straight too!

I had 13 bids on that 3rd plow, just bidding it up to a respectable number. Bid on that 4th plow 16 times.

Haven't really had time to focus on work last few days! We need to get this done so we can go fishing, and occasionally do some work too.

  7. It's awfull quiet on these auctions. Doesn't anybody have any money left?

Nitro, How high did you go on the 4th Plow? I bumped it up a couple times, but I really can not afford to end up with many more. I bumped your "Very Rare Wiley Kowalski" up a couple of times, too (on Joe M's auction.) Maybe if I end up with that one, you will have more to spend over here! (It's for a good cause.)
