If you go Lowrance do not go with the hook series. The Elite FS is a great unit otherwise spend the extra money on a HDS.  Carbon and live are superb units. I would imagine the new pros are too but at a lot more cost. You can shop around and get a 9 live with all in one transducer for a decent price plus it has c- map preloaded.  Myself I am hooked on touch screen units and Hummingbirds helix units are still behind in that not being touch screen. It’s what ever you feel most comfortable using they are all pretty close to doing the same job sonar wise.

Totalscan transducer is definitely compatible with the gen 3. It plugs in the black 9 pin structure scan port. That is the transducer they sold the gen 3  with when they were new . The blue 7 pin was for either 2 d or the HDI transducer. None of the Lowrance  units  7 pin blue plug port will recognize  side scan. Just the 9 pin structure scan port recognizes side scan. 

What is your other transducer the LSS 2. Where is your 2d transducer mounted. If they all mounted on your transducer you might be better off getting a total scan transducer and replace both with just the one transducer.  Go to BBC forum and check things out. They have a lot of electronic  info and great classified section

Unless you removed the carbs and took them all apart and soaked them don’t rule them out.

The panther will lift your motor easily out of the water. One thing for sure always use the safety cable they give you.  My worry was having the plastic break while  motoring back in with the troller up and losing the motor to the bottom.   I think they also make different height lifts too. I had the 10 inch lift one. 
amazon has some returned ones for around $250. 

I have 2- micro sd cards. Can be used with adapter for older machines that use large SD cards.
