I know your question wasn't necessarily about Rod holders but I would suggest checking out Dot line rod holders. I have yet to see a Dipsy rod holder as solid as these. Plus the price on them are more than reasonable

Double keels are only necessary if you are going to use your boats to pull copper. If this is an application that you would like to use you also have the use PowerPro instead of your standard board line. 250 pound
-
I have run the both of them. They both have their strengths and weaknesses but I prefer the blood run. Simply for its smaller diameter with the same sink rate. Plus it's a touch more user-friendly

Pauly! Lake trout? Spin and glow? Where do you hide those on the boat?
-
I would also add that each unit the moor, the depth raider and the fishhawk have different speeds that they are the most effective. Not because you're actually doing a different speed because of the functionality of each unit. I have never fished with a moor but I here that 2 is the number for that one and 2.5 on your depth raider. If you are fishing deep I would never trust your GPS because I have seen drastic variations in the speed at the ball compared to the speed overground
-
I prefer 2.7 miles an hour on the fishhawk. That seems to be the most consistent speed for catching fish. But as in anything in the world of fishing there are small variations on daily basis. Some days little faster Some days little slower

PS at least you can hold a fish for a picture! I got to talk to Soup about how he holds a fish! That pic is pretty funny he's got his hand on The fishes face, squishing the tail, and bending the fish into a U.

It's nice to see that you guys got on some silver fish! I figured Capt. Ian would be able to get the Kings to go. Just think how many kings you guys would have got if I was there!...... Just kidding Ian. Wish I could've been there. In my defense fishing the Pro-Am with the Freespirit/Top gun team was pretty awesome! Taking second in trophy box, third in classic, and first in the Calcutta.

Planer board question.
in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Posted
Double keels pull so hard they can actually snap the standard board line. Plus that stuff is really stretchy and puts a lot of spring in the boat. Therefore making it tougher to get a clean release off the board line. It prevents you having to real the board line in the release close to the boat to get it to release
