  1. thanks nitro...hopefully i get into them there is an awesome point/deep hole surrounded by a nice weedned right out in front not 30 yards from shore where we do well on them in the open water season im hoping we can get a few...u gonna be out there by any chance? just look for the guy with a few tip ups passing the tmie waiting for flags by casting bucktails with my musky rod wishing it were open water season haha

  2. heading to conesus this saturday to try and get into some esox in front of my aunts house which is the next cove south of the launch...anyone gonna be out there this weekend? Im new to ice fishing so I dont know where the pike or tigers are going to be this late into the winter, have they moved into open water relating to any weeds that are left? deep? shallow? Any input would be nice and if youre going to be out there let me know!

  3. yeah but the 20,000 fingerlings stocked in 96 is faulty i dont think they ever had a stocking program for oneida though...i wish the dec would do more for the pike thoug in that lake like try and provide a spawning habitat, with all the perch, alewives, and gizzard shad in there youd have excessive forage to have a real trophy fishery if they could reproduce better on their own

  4. Im lookin to get a nice low profile high capacity baitcaster to put on my 7' med heavy shimano rod for a nice downsize/piking set up...lookin to put like 30lb braid on it so I can use it for the likes of conesus or anywhere else where pike is the main target...ive got all abu garcia round reels and have never had any issues with them in fact im obsessed with my ambassadeur record reel (its amazing) but im leaning kind of towards the curado bc it has a higher gear ratio and will burn smaller bucktails and spinnerbaits...anybody have these or can give me some insight on them?

  5. Tiger I dont know if we are going to get down there on sunday or not my other buddy kind of wanted to try oneida or cross since he lives right in brewerton but idk how safe cross lake is in the winter...to be honest im just looking forward to open water season so i can get out my round reels and start tossing super believers and big in lines haha

i saw this on nyfisherman.net...even though it was 7 years ago it kind of sucks that such a nice fish was wasted on a walleye fisherman (no offense) so of course this thing was not returned to the water but instead made a trip to the local taxidermist...there are guys who spend years on the water for a fish like this and this **** happens ot stumble on one and the first thing he does is kill it

  7. As far as serious muskie fishing goes i am still relatively new at it...mostly just tigers and northerns due to liited access to decent pure bred waters. Ive been looking into local areas other than the 1000 islands and chataqua since I live in the finger lakes region and started to dig up some stuff on waneta and lamoka...so far from what ive read is that its got mostly small ones with a few shockers here and there and is over fished with local scumbag rednecks who wish to kill the fish...Ive also read that it does get some of the fish from the chataqua fishery and have read many peoples responses on the board in regards to having other bodies of water stocked with pure strain muskies and possibly having the size limit increased on waneta to further protect populations. what would need to be done in order to get any sort of consideration on this from the dec? obviously its much more than writing a letter to your local dec but i thought id ask and im sure captain larry might be able to provide some or any insight on the matter and since its the off season it gives us something to talk about!

  8. not too familiar with this lake other than it has a good norlunge population...was thinking about heading out there to ice fish the north this weekend but heard that the narrows is open water...does that mean the extreme narrowing on the south end or the narrowing on the north end? any help would be awesome

  9. too many times have i seen vacant holes with anywhere from 3-5 of these guys just left to waste. for anyone that just throws these guys on the ice to help "preserve" their panfishing or bass fishing with no intent to at least use your limit for a nice meal keep in mind that a lot of people highly enjoy fishing for them and would not want to see their populations start to decline bc some assholes dont think they belong in their panfish waters and like to waste fish. keep your no more than your limit, dont waste, and try to let the big girls go back...theyre crucial for spawning and maintaining trophy populations.
