  1. So I just finally got the new (to me) boat out for a shake down run yesterday. Don't have anything set up yet, but need some suggestions. I'd like to try jigging for some lake trout on Canandaigua, and need some advice. Are we talking jigging with spoons, or jig heads and tubes? This is the first year of living up here that I finally have the time to get out and start learning the fishery up here. I'm going to be on here a lot soon as I have the downriggers mounted bugging you guys, but I need to try something more than perch fishing!

  2. Well Les I finally picked up another boat. Maybe after I get it cleaned up, we can get together for coffee and I can pick your brain on how to set this gear up? I want to take this thing on a loooooong shakedown before I do anything else. Can't wait to get out!

  3. and was never seen again? Yeah, well, my father in law was using my new used Jiffy 30 on Thursday and all I heard was "oh @#$%" there goes the auger! My fault as the owner, I tightened the nut and bolt when putting the auger onto the power head, but for some stupid reason forgot to put the cotter pin through the bolt. So that being said, if anyone has a used Jiffy auger, I'm in the market! Won't make that mistake again until next time!!! :)

  4. Hey as a newbie to lake trout and being close enough to Canadice and actually living in Canandaigua, what jigs do you use for them and how about line strength? I'm not asking for your secret color jig or anything like that, just what weight?

    Thanks

  5. Not a bad idea at all Les, but the hooting like screech owl idea is pretty funny.... Keep changing my mind back and forth about tomorrow afternoon and whether the ice will hold me. Think I'm going to have to take a look in the pm.
