Well Les I finally picked up another boat. Maybe after I get it cleaned up, we can get together for coffee and I can pick your brain on how to set this gear up? I want to take this thing on a loooooong shakedown before I do anything else. Can't wait to get out!

Ok, so let me ask this. I've eaten puppy drum (redfish) which is a salt water fish. What's the deal with the freshwater drum? Is it an edible fish, or just like a carp?
-
Is there a trailer? Any other gear?
-
So other than the blown motor how's the hull? What year is the boat? Length? I might be interested in it as a project.
-
Is there a trailer also? Asking price ?

Thanks Youngblood I emailed the guy earlier this afternoon and haven't heard back yet.

Crap I bet it won't work. Jiffy augers spin counter clock wise.....
-
That's a thought. I have my hand auger too....that might work...
-
Yeah Les my brother in law did. We were back looking for it yesterday but his GPS got gremlins. We'll get it in spring time. Back to hand cranking it is!
-
and was never seen again? Yeah, well, my father in law was using my new used Jiffy 30 on Thursday and all I heard was "oh @#$%" there goes the auger! My fault as the owner, I tightened the nut and bolt when putting the auger onto the power head, but for some stupid reason forgot to put the cotter pin through the bolt. So that being said, if anyone has a used Jiffy auger, I'm in the market! Won't make that mistake again until next time!!!

Yeah, I think I will definitely stay off until Saturday.

Cool thanks I'll give it a shot!

Hey as a newbie to lake trout and being close enough to Canadice and actually living in Canandaigua, what jigs do you use for them and how about line strength? I'm not asking for your secret color jig or anything like that, just what weight?
Thanks

Any issues at the shore line or the cracks?

Not a bad idea at all Les, but the hooting like screech owl idea is pretty funny.... Keep changing my mind back and forth about tomorrow afternoon and whether the ice will hold me. Think I'm going to have to take a look in the pm.
-
Hey I was on ice shanty and a guy brought up a spot I never thought of. Either of you guy try behind AutoZone in the pond?

Sent you a message with a price let me know if you got it and are ready to move forward

I can get a price on shipping when I'm back home next week. You would have to pay all shipping costs. I don't mind boxing them up and shipping, you would just have to pay me through paypal I guess.
Jigging for lake trout
in Tackle and Techniques
Posted
So I just finally got the new (to me) boat out for a shake down run yesterday. Don't have anything set up yet, but need some suggestions. I'd like to try jigging for some lake trout on Canandaigua, and need some advice. Are we talking jigging with spoons, or jig heads and tubes? This is the first year of living up here that I finally have the time to get out and start learning the fishery up here. I'm going to be on here a lot soon as I have the downriggers mounted bugging you guys, but I need to try something more than perch fishing!
