  1. I will tell you that I was a big fan of braid and put it on all my rods. Come flea time I was sorry I had spent all that money because it loaded up so bad I had to stop and clear the line just to land the fish or reel in the lures. With the wire you can just reel and the wire is sharp enough to cut through the fleas.

  2. I would agree with Wes....Brent's Place just made an extra $81.00 because I tried to do it myself with a couple new rods and couldn't keep the line from shooting off the spool. With some advice from Wes, a buddy, a pair of gloves, and more care it went of no problem. As far as the termination knot ask Wes if he can show you the knot he taught me. Super easy and never had an issue with it slippiing.

  3. Hal, If that Luhrs guy does not buy these I might if the tube size is correct. I have two of my splashwell holders are broken. I need 10" without the flange since I would cut that part off. When I get home I will measure diameter of original tubes. If The other guy buys them just post sold. Wes

Sounds good. The shipping is a little high to send them to Canada so I don't know if he's still going to want them. I'll let you know what happens.

  4. There you go.....that would be a good one.....the newest thing in his box is an Alabama rig....they look just like a grease trap. I told him the bass guys are a little slow but at least they finally figured it out

  5. Gotta love that autopilot! I was up at the camp today and I still need a lot more water to put the boat in. Good to see a few guys are getting out.

Yep you guys pointed me in the right direction with that!!! I think someone said once you have it you wont know how to live without it and they were right. What a difference!! Thanks again for the advice and recommendations.

  6. Not the yum bait again  We did 26 lakers at the north end. Ben's new girlfriend reeled the 600' copper 7 or 8 times. Most of our fish were copper and dipsy's. Wes

Yep the YUM bait strikes again. Never saw him grab it when we were setting the lines. You would have thought he just hit the lottery when that big laker came up with that thing in it's jaw. Sounds like you had a good day also. Probably should have gone north but hoped to do some flat lining later in the day. Still had hopes of getting some silvers late in the evening but then we started hammering the lakers and didnt want to stop what was working. If Ben's girlfriend reeled that copper in that many times he better treat her right or else.

  7. Went out of Meyers around lunch time.....tried flat lining for a bit but knew the sun and time of day weren't on our side. Went deep with the riggers and dipsy's and not a single fish.... then around 4:00 the bite turned on. Lost count of how many lakers we caught between then and 5:30 when we called it quits but it had to have been over 20....all around 100-120 feet deep over 150 to 175fow. Had our first triple and the new auto pilot made it very easy to land all three. All except for one were small but lots of fun. The only keeper of the day was caught on my bass fishing buddy's YUM tube behind a green SD.....I'll never hear the end of it.....that's the second time he's found a way to sneak that foolish thing on one of my rods and both times it's caught a nice laker.

  8. Yeah my daughter and I are pretty pysched about the autopilot.....should make things alot easier. If you keep a close eye on the selling consumer to consumer chat board you can find some pretty good deals of some of the stuff you may be looking for. Headed out saturday so I'll post how we make out. Hope to see you on the water soon.

  9. The probe worked like a champ...reads both surface and at the ball speed and temp down to a tenth of a mile. The surface speed is was almost always .2 to .3 off from the GPS so I would assume since its a paddle wheel that its alot more accurate. Surface yesterday was around 40 with 39 at the ball. Never really changed alot but I'm looking forward to being able to find the zone a little easier when things start to set up temp whise.

  10. The launch was ok....water is still real low and we had to back half way in the lake to get the boat to float but stayed on the concrete.....no problems getting the boat out but I was glad I took my hip boots. Gotta tweak the auto pilot a little bit yet to get it to track to a way point a little better but overall things went well. We're planning on taking it out again on Saturday....Hannah is all wound up about getting back on the water. Hope to see or hear from you then.

  11. Headed out of Long Point around 8:00 after a sea trial calibration of the auto pilot headed south along the east shore. BIG thanks to Mower and LiL Jake for the recommendation on the autopilot and Mower for sending me to the installer....everything worked great. Picked a couple LT on the south troll and headed across the lake to the west shore just south of Sheldrake. Hit a double as soon as we headed north towards Sheldrake and the auto pilot kept us on track for a couple more while we landed and release a couple 6lbers. Blue Dolphin with a blue buckeye fly...Chrome and Green SD with and an irodescant flly and a Sutton all around 70' over 125-150 fow caught all the fish. Great day on the water although a little chilly and wet.
