  1. Yeah I talked to the guy that caught the walleye a nice brown and tiger all the same day ..otisco slam!

I think i'll have more zero fish days this year than catchin pannies down at the damn if I can stay away from them they are fun and tasty but my freezer is in good shape so I think Ill put a better effort in figuring out the walleyes...

gotta make up my mind that I have to be willing to have a quiet season if im gonna put the work in to finding them walleyes!

we'll hook up for sure if ya wanna put a serious effort in!

  2. Down at the north end ....everyone parks along the guardrail by the dam.... this area out to the "narrows" is fishable all season every year typically.

THOUSANDS of gills , and crappies is typically the bounty. I have got into some perch there as well...but the majority is gills. You coulld have kids catchin fish for hours! Alot pf people setup tipups for tigers down there and get alot of bass doin so as well.

Once the main lake freezes over, we starting using the county park on the east side and go straight out from there which is around 15-20 and north it gets shallow and weedier and typically we find the perch and have tigers keep us busy all day long. Also we park down at the otisco lake marina by the causeway and go out. Guys also get into catchin browns on tipups early am ON the west shore.

The north end of Otisco is typically one of the first places in CNY with fishable ice. Its very wind/ wave protected and avg around 7ft. There  is a channel that gets to about 12 ish .

WALLEYES ARE A DIFFERENT DEAL ALTOGETHER. Nobody I know of is successful at it, but I am gonna try to find somebody who is!

  4. IMO there is more harm done to Tigers on Otisco due to the catches by "bass fishermen" and the "bass tournaments" that occur weekly on the lake.

I have had many conversations with various "bass angler" that could care less about the safe handling of a big tiger nor are they equipped to do so.

The ones that I have spoke with dont have respect for them because

    A) They wreck their equipment( rods/reels tackle, lures , bite-offs etc.)

    B) Trash their boat

    C) They have sharp teeth

    D) Are slimy and stinky

    E) Consume fisherman's  time unhooking them instead of fishing for bass

    F) TIgers Eat their "prize" ....bass

Perhaps  interaction with the tournament directors  of said bass tournaments would result in relaying the message to the participants of the importance of the tigers to other anglers of the lake that arent bass tournament anglers.

  6. Last night I went to the park from 8-930 .landed a solid 33" tiger...that was interesting to net on the beach ...lets just say they run out of room

In 1 ft of water and become quite acrobatic!!!! Lost another fish and went home. It was bright for my liking so figured id try gain early this am. Got out about 5 and caught a 21.5" 4.5# and a25" at 7.23#

Also caught a cat on my f18 that was around 24"!

Bout 730 a tiger surfaced close to the boat...I dropped my f18 on top of him and 3-4 hard jerks under the surface and wham! Got bit off! And then up floats my f18 to the surface and I was able to retrieve it. I lost my vampire f18 on a snag and got back my perch f18!

  7. Decided to scoot down before the cold front came through last night. The vampire f18 took a beating! One lost walleye at the net....a 30" tiger who crushed the nose of the f18, a lmb and the limit below.caught the last one as the rain started. 2) about 4# and a 6.3#

  8. Pap,

I can be down at the park in about 8 minutes , and down to my boat at ryfuns in 15.

Its very easy for me to go and only spend an hour or 2 to steal a walleye and go home. Like you said its better than a skunk. It makes it hard not to go , knowing you can get at least one usually . We were on fire a couple weeks ago.

7 nights for me yielded 6 limits. 1 night I zeroed but had fish on, just didnt land them.

I think itll come back yet again once the weather changes again, in the meantime its 1 here or there.
