  1. Yes they are definitely spawning. We had to drain the live well a few times to dispose of the remnants of the perch orgy inside. Lol. I couldn't imagine fishing there on the weekend. There was probably 50 boats out on a Monday.

  2. It was a tough year due to the warm weather. Most everyone I talked to were not seeing deer. My son and I managed to bag 8 deer. He harvested a beauty 7 point and two small does. I harvested a 9 point, a 10 point, two mature does, and a 2.5 yr old doe for my father in laws freezer. We filmed and passed on numerous small bucks and doe groups once the rut kicked in. I found that stands right on top of bedding were the ticket, as daytime movement was only the last few minutes or first few minutes of light. I had some real bruisers inside of 20 yards but was too dark to shoot. As always, calling, and scent was key to buck harvest.

  3. I just picked up 2 of the 30 series batteries cabelas batteries. They are the ones I picked after about a week of research. I havent put them to the test yet, but by the specs they are the best out there for the money.

That's what I did too. Lol
  4. Thanks Vince. The interstates that are currently on the boat are from 2008 but I've only had the boat since February. They are tucked away under the consoles so I like the idea of the AGM since I won't have to add any water. Cabelas has them on sale for $169 ($229 normally)

  5. You have to find what speed works for you and your spread. I've seen guys trolling 3.0 GPS speed on top in ice water do very well. We typically like to go a little slower than that. 2.0-2.5 GPS speed. I think more important than speed is location.

I totally agree. The fish aren't stacked all along the shoreline this time of year, but are concentrated on the warmest water in the area. Watch your surface temperature (or down temp if equipped) Sometimes it's a matter of less than half a degree. If you find a warm pocket, there will be fish.

  6. One of my best producers is a MUP rig. It's a standard size spoon off the ball and back say 15-20'. Then a fixed slider 5' above with a mag spoon in the same pattern. Just be sure to put a bead above the swivel of your Downrigger rod so when you have a fish on your slider line, the bead absorbs the weight of the fish, rather than your swivel. Also be sure to reel as fast as you can BEFORE you take the rod out of the holder when you have a release as the fish on the slider needs tension or you will lose it

  7. I bought those opti tackle boards the green ones for $20 apice and the front release broke on the 4 that I bought. It's made from hard plastic and seems to just snap at the base. So I just went out and got the church walleye boards.. I run the small church 15s in and the offshore and bigger church boards on the outside. In a kayak ID say in MHO the smaller church boards you couldn't go wrong with. And they stay on your line good also. Also when running braid just double wrap the front release and it stays in place just fine..

Exactly what I do. The walleye boards are tough to beat as far as versatility.
  8. Opti tackle boards suck. They are cheap Chinese knock offs and the rear release is the worst of all boards. Church walleye boards or tx 22's will handle any situation from flat lining sticks to towing 300' of copper or even dipsey divers. You can use the rear pin and front release if you want the board to slide down upon release. If you do that, I would recommend upgrading to the stainless steel rear pin.

  9. I had bob paint these for me a few years ago. Always do well on Browns and kings in the spring with them. Silver cup with white glow face and purple dots. King Slammin spoon. post-149813-14598174212932_thumb.jpg

Ice cream sandwich, cyclops, FLT frog, Black meat pounding deep, all catch fish

  10. Don't forget the good old Yellow Eagle claws, great rod for the $

Must be a Starcraft thing. Lol. I picked up some med light eagle claws this winter for eyes and Browns now that I'm more mobile in my superfisherman. Makes the fight a lot more fun. Can't wait until the first snotty teenage king decides to do battle with me.
