  2. Danno,

Understand the dilemma have 2 kids age 7 and 10 that love to tube etc. Have an Aluminum 18' Lund Fisherman. It has all the features of a bow rider type pleasure boat and it still a fishing machine. Be sure you put some HP on the Transom for skiing and tubing you will need it. A Four stroke motor will keep it affordable too. I have a 2 stroke 115 and it does the job, but a bit under powered and really drinks the gas/oil when you run it hard.

Rigged mine with Tracking system so rodholders etc can be removed easily. Lund makes a fiberglass too. I fish Hard with the boys, and play hard with my kids too.

    Hope this helps

  4. Sounds Like Okuma is listening to there there dealers Here is an email Just received:

Wal-mart is getting out of those CV30D reels.

There have been no recent purchased from Okuma.

Fill in cost would be higher than they are selling it for.

Okuma should police their msrp's, if their accounts, big or small, are important to them, and that would help curb this.
Too many whores out there, and NOT only in this industry.

Raised some awareness on the above quote as well and changes are in place so I have been informed.

  5. Please Keep in mind they advertise 2 weeks for them to arrive at your local store. Encourage all to do business with the small business owner. Big Box stores are squeezing the life out of the small business owner.

Seen above post on My facebook page and will be posting it to FB as well. Encourage all who agree to share tweet and pin this.

  7. This topic has come full circle a couple times at my shop. Scotty has been in the business for decades and the west coast salmon fishery loves them. Scotty Uses the best plastic available and it has a mesh composite and is UV protected as well. I reccomend calling scotty directly 1-800-214-0141 they have a great sales/customer service staff that answers the phone and will help. I have done this myself, and there answer is yes on the 470 model rocket launcher. The Scotty 230 and 280 models were not designed for a dipsy presentation.

The Scotty 470 is plastic at the base. Scotty Tested these in there shop and broke several halibut boat rods (these are like a broomstick)

I will say this is like "rock-paper-scissors" metal will win over plastic every time.

    Hope this Helps

  8. For spring brown fishing and walleye, the 20 series reels would be ideal. As summer and fall come the 20 series may be a touch small for the larger salmon and steelhead. Rod size has alot to do with personal preference and boat size. In a planer mast presentation you want all your rods to be identical. The 8'6" rod has been a standard choice for many years. Alot of guys using the large boards use a shorter rod dues to them standing straight up in rodholders. Hope this helps feel free to contact Us if you have any questions.

  9. Reccomend simply starting with 2 downriggers one on each corner. Place your rodholders on sides of boat leaving the transom area open to net fish. There is many presentations out there dipsy divers, leadcore, copper etc. so the use of more than 2 downriggers is optional on a boat this size. One idea for you is to sell the 3rd downrigger to open your budget for other stuff you may need. Used downriggers bring good money, take look around the net and see what you can get for one.

Six Rods is a great starting point. As stated above 2 riggers,2 dipsys and we reccomend copper line but leadcore works too. Its not about quantity of lines, its a quality presentation. More than Happy to help if you have any questions, we help guys get started all the time. Agree with the above too, wealth of knowledge right here on this site.

  10. Just updated our website with the new deeper diver. The Walker Brand was purchased by Grayden Outdoors AKA FishHawk. They are now in new packaging as Deeper Diver. Same Product you all know it has not changed with the exception of color offerings. Trevor has used the FishHawk TD to create a dive chart listed on the link below. He is also offering a clear model with UV protection so they should not blow up anymore. Clear Model is Hard to come by at this time call us for details 1-877-442-7388
