  1. so i've been wanting to get some better seats, something more comfortable with some arm rests. i've been looking around online at all the usual retailers and local craigslist and ebay. i really like the look of some of the helm seats in pontoon boats, look comfy with flip up arm rests, but i just don't know if they'd be too wide for my rig (crestliner eagle 2450 walk-around). here's what i've got now, the stock crestliner seats.

and here's the type of seat i'm thinking about..

i like the idea of flip up arm rests because a lot of the time i'm sitting kind of sideways while trolling. one hand on the wheel while watching the rods. it would allow my leg to hang over the side of the seat with the arm rest up if i wanted, versus a seat with fixed arm rests, like this.

given the narrow cockpit on my boat, i don't know if either of these styles would work. while they may fit facing forward or aft, the arm rest might contact the side walls preventing them from swiveling. any advice on captains seats?

  2. thanks hawkeye, very helpful. i had a feeling i'd be doing a fair amount of disassembly.. i think i'm going to just keep putting fuel in it and wait until the end of the season to pull things apart. i don't want to miss any time on the water because i've got things torn apart.

i sent an email to crestliner last week but have not received any response as of yet.

  3. no worries, i got the idea.

this is what those "boxes" look like. i'm thinking i'll have to pull the port side box to get to the floor board screws. the fuel filler is on that side so i'm hoping the main tank is on that side (2 tanks, 70 gal main and a 30 gal aux). it would make more sense balance wise to mount the tanks in the center of the boat though.. i guess i'll have to see.

  4. i'm hoping someone may know.. i have a 2000 crestliner eagle 2450. recently my fuel gauge quit working and I determined that it is the sending unit. problem is, i don't know where it's at. i have no access panel in the floor anywhere that i can find. i'm really hoping that i don't have to pull up the floor to change it. does anyone know?

  5. been quite pleased with my eagle so far. i've only got 1 season with it under my belt but it's been great.

also, the one in watertown was on here for sale last year and was 15k or so. i don't know if that's a new owner posting the craigslist ad or what, but it uses the same pics that were on here. maybe search for it on here and contact him via the site. might get a better deal.

  6. i'm interested in this as well. this season will be my first with an i/o in early spring. always had outboards before. we're still getting temps in the high teens, low to mid 20s at night. 40's for highs during the day. i haven't unwrapped mine yet since the lake is still iced over, but once it's open i want to get out there as soon as i can.

is there a night time temp. range we should wait for? right now i think it's too cold at night.. 18-20 degrees... i can see bad things happening.

  7. yeah i was wondering about the rigidity of the pvc over that long of a span. might have to use conduit instead.

another thought i had was to ditch the crank up idea and simply attach some conduit or pvc to the bottom edges of the tarp on both sides to keep it rigid and straight. i could then pull the tarp up and over from inside the boat. easy enough and much more simple. i could attach rope to the tubing along the bottom edges if needed to give me something to pull on. then, bungee both bottom edges to the trailer (and around the front and back if need be).
