  1. I lost my many years hunting land to a land owner sale. The new owners won't let any one hunt. I'm 59 and  a very safe and respectful hunter on any ones ,

land,I don't have the drive like I use to but still would like to get out. My tags are for zone 7A & 7F.Is it possible that someone has some land they would let me hunt, perhaps with in a 20 mile radius of Fulton. I usually hunt by my self or with my son when he is home on leave from the Air force. All replies are really appreciated. Thanks

  2. I have taken several charters in my life but times have changed on Lake Ontario and the fish just aren't there like in the past. I could wash lures all day

and I have but the season is coming to a close and there are certain types and colors that work good right now ,that is what I was looking for. The radio has

to stay on. I have a DSC model with built in GPS and I fish alone most of the time. I get what your saying but its one of the moment things right now.

    Thanks for the input.

  3. I have a large selection of spoons and used a lot of them to get hits this past week, three hits on three outings, and I was marking fish. The chatter on the radio suggests no one is having much luck but when you get back to the dock people have fish and you find out they were fishing in the same area and there telling me they caught more on spoons than flies or meat rigs.

Is there a secret weapon???? lol or is there mag spoons that just out do most others? Would like to get one of those screamers before putting

the boat in storage. All replies much appreciated.

  4. The Question got brought up about fishing hours on Lake Ontario ,some people ,including me thought it was from sunrise to sunset, others are saying

you can fish for them all night. I do see in the DEC book you can fish all year for Browns, Coho's, Kings, Steelhead, but I do not find a specific time of day set.

I'm inclined to believe there is no set hour?? All replies are appreciated

  5. Its not very often other fisher men talk about there secret weapons or things like Smelly Jelly's

I was told by a old timer that Smelly Jelly's are one of fisher men's best secret weapons. I responded

with that's not something I've heard much about out here on Lake Ontario fishing for Salmon & Trout.

I'm wondering if this is true and someone would share there knowledge of its use. I'd love to be able to up my game

and my Son is coming home on leave next week "he's a Air force Lifer" I'd love to have something extra to bring

out to increase those chances. The last time he was home was two years ago and we fished two long days out there

with just one Coho to brag about. So far this year for me alone I'm not bragging yet, lol. All response's are appreciated.

  6. Sounds like the going out there is still pretty tough, almost like last year. I was going to go out today until I

saw all the boats, last weekend was a bit crazy too so I'm trying to get out during the week so Monday afternoon

is looking like my time. Good prediction though in Sundays paper of a much easier winter so with any luck just maybe

next year will be like it was when it was great.

  7. I didn't have any problems with it so far, its on the rod but hasn't been in the water yet, we will see. Yes it is American wire smoke color, my first experience with wire, after pricing out the reels every where and the cost of wire and the time to spool it correctly I couldn't go wrong with that price and I had every thing

on my porch in two days. I know I will have to spool my own at some time but I just wanted to get it and get it out there, then of course the weather put a stop to that. :(

The original price week before last week was $139.00 this morning its still at $119.00 and that's on a OKUMA CV30D

  8. I WAS LOOKING AT OKUMA LINE COUNTERS PRESPOOLED WITH WIRE, I FOUND FISH USA HAD ONE SPOOLED WITH A THOUSAND FEET

AND BACKING AT $119.OO,THERE RUNNING SPECIALS RIGHT NOW ON OTHER REELS TO.IVE DONE A LOT OF BUSINESS WITH THEM AND

I USUALLY HAVE MY STUFF WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS,GREAT TO WORK WITH TO,THEY ANSWER YOUR PHONE AND GIVE YOU ANSWERS.

FIGURED SOMEONE IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A DEAL AND THAT WAS THE CHEAPEST I COULD FIND ON LINE.

  9. I was thinking that copper would take a bigger reel there for adding more weight than SS wire, I have two lead core setups on Okuma Convectors,cv45's which is quite bulky to me and really never caught much on it. Yes my thought was to flat line it but also use on Dipsey's. Do they use lead core with Dipsey's?

I guess part of my mind set is to have something that will get deeper without using my downriggers or along with them when fish are deeper and with fleas

fast approaching they say SS wire is less prone than copper.

  10. I'm really leaning towards going with SS wire over copper is there a preferred rod or rods that are favorites. I want to go with a all around use one 7-8 foot.

Shorter vs. longer is just easier on my type of boat. Thanks

  11. I do use the light house web cam hanging over wrights landing, it can be very deceiving at times and I used it yesterday, couldn't see white caps from this view, if only it would zoom! Thanks

I know they took the lake buoy out some time ago, any one know what there doing with it?

  12. Isn't the nearest bouy /weather station out towards Sodus-Rochester, the NOAA a map you can click on to get the report from Sodus to Mexico Point,

the same with wunder ground. The Weather can be different 50 miles either way. The app your talking about gets its info from where? I always use what ever there is available on the internet to guide me to go out. Thanks

  13. For the second time in as many weeks the weather got nice the NOAA says less than 2 foot waves, winds at 9mph,Wunder ground states even less on the waves.

I load up the boat drive down to Oswego and its white caps and smashing against the break wall. We don't have a reliable system, you would think someone or the USC with all the traffic there would be something down there to get a accurate report of the lake conditions. The USC is always talking safety wouldn't this be part

of the bigger picture. I do know that they are working on putting in a New Web cam through Lake Ontario United and it is being worked on,I do believe its reaching it;s final stages. I'm not sure exactly what it will provide but hopefully a lot more than Wrights landing web cam. I've talked to other boaters, several from not around here and they voice there thoughts, they drive down here only to find the fishing conditions not pleasant. Any thoughts? Please don't say write my Congress men. lol

  14. Is it advisable to do a radio check while going out on the Big O? Mine is installed and the DSC is all set up. I haven't heard many boats calling for

a radio check, until this morning. I was waiting for someone to reply but didn't here one, and he never came back, will some tell me how it all works. I here the USC on there all the time at channel 16. The book only gives so much info. I appreciate all response's

    Thanks

  15. I do not own a copper or stainless wire setup, I have two Okuma Copper rods and two Okuma CV45D spooled up with Lead Core that I can honestly say I have not caught a thing on. Back a few years ago Lead core was the hype and every one said got to have it. Hearing all the hype  about wire line, and being told to dump the lead core and get into wire, I'm thinking about re-spooling those two set ups, so far Copper seems to be the favorite on here and it will be another giant learning curve for me but if it is catching fish I want to get in the game. Some people say that Copper has some kind of attraction that the fish like? Can't wait to start posting my trophy catch's, lol. Any and all inputs would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
