  1. Swich you tow line to 200# power pro. Switch out those curtain rings to small carabiners with a large swivel attached to release. Your boards are tracking where they should be. Higher mast is always a plus.

  2. They are a good motor. Bought a 8 hp extra long shaft that I use on my drift boat. Bought off ebay and came from Alaska. Very easy to rinse after use in saltwater as it hooks right up to garden hose. Use regulary in saltwater crabbing.

  3. I got the non marking roller you see at Tractor Supply. I used a center thru bolt and the U bolts  you see. I placed it so that the boat enters it and  then stays centered. The rollers only lightly  touch the hull at rest. The thru bolt is the key to keeping it from turning durning loading or unloading.

Thats a nice idea Never seen that before.

  4. I call it "propane brain". I rented a hut on Quinte for a day over Christmas break. The heater provided gave me a headache and made me want to lie down and sleep. The next day I went out with my Clam and a Mr. Heater Buddy and with a little ventilation and it was absolutely night and day.

Thats scary. That is exactly how people die from CO poisoning. Your lucky.

  5. Legacy, understand, unable to thread leader into LC, as mentioned above due to similar line size. Hoping for a second best choice at this point. Just tried a modified cinch knot to a SPRO swivel for the lead core side. Seems to hold up from what I can tell with a simple hard pull. Still hoping for additional guidance

Use a pin that are used to stuff turkey to open up leadcore sheath to insert your leader. Willis knot is best.

  6. Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a knowledgeable spot for autopilot shopping? I am in the market for one and need to make sure I am aware of all of my options before I purchase one. I would hate to buy one and then find out there was a unit better suited to my needs. Any info would help, thanks.

    Steve

Research it extensively before you make final decision. Biggest factors you need to look at are size and weight of boat, and type of steering you currently have. Weight of boat should include persons all your gear and full gas tanks. That can vary greatly from what manufacture states in specs.

Bought my AP from Hodges among many other items when I rigged my boat. Found them to be cheapest at time with fast shipping times.

  7. I live about 4 miles from green tree land fill in Elk Co. Pa. they have an incinerator. I was surprised by the lack of ash fallout. But the smell it puts off is awful. There’s is a methane fired incinerator and you can really smell the methane when the wind shifts our direction. Thankfully that isn’t very often. But the people who live down wind of it complain a lot about the smell.
There are trucks from jersey, New York, Ohio, all coming to Pa. to dump their garbage.

You may be smelling something but it isn’t methane. Has no odor.

  9. Not difficult. Many you tube videos to help guide you thru process. Consider changing lower shift cable when all apart. Yes there are some special tools needed. Those costs offset by your savings though. Consider changing gimbal bearing also if bellows were leaking.
