No. Cant say that just yet. My second time fishing the west side. Do like the short run out to fishing grounds versus running out of the little salmon. It is a 8 hr ride up to the Oak from Jersey versus the normal 5. Still trying to figure it all out. Overall, fishing is normally better out that end for this time of year. Reports on east end thus far have been favorable as well.

Fished Sat and Sunday morning. Temps all over and scattered like fish. Not much marks for bait.
Most fish caught between 60-80' down. 120 -140 was found to be most productive as was it an early morning bite. Black spoons off copper , lead and divers took hits. White paddles with the stud flies caught fish as well as a few lakers. Kids had a blast.

I would mount them on roof rail to back of hardtop with a pulley to front No need for a mast.

Just want to clarify my comment. Every year there seems to always be a hot new spoon or fly or flasher pattern out that becomes a must have. Quilty of rushing out to put it in my arsenal myself. Looking back at said items at year end they dont tend to do any better or worse than what is out there already.
Will I add a Stud to my collection of Attomik flies? More than likely, but I not gonna run a program around it or any other item.
I wish Tom well with sales of his new product.

Looking at those pics again, I wonder if axle is torquely when brakes are applied to cause that cracking like that. Is boat heavier that trailer rating?

Wow. That could have been a disaster.

Unfortunately happens too often when you raise a net

I wouldn't use a slider or any other release type on your coated cable. Too much of a risk damaging coating. Its enough to keep up with the 5' above your probe. I use a blacks release at cable end. Probe. Then torpedo weight. I never drop my probe deep enough that I am gonna hang up on bottom.

West end definitely has better fishing early in year. East end has water that is just too damn clean. Always caught fish on east side but worked my ass off to get them. Took a charter with my brothers on Crazy Yankee this April, and we did amazing numbers over 2 days. His tactics were not any different than what I run. Difference was the water. East end you can count the rocks in 20' of water.

Well That absolutely sucks. Any consolation is that the people at Salmon Country will fix it right and at a fair price. Had them do plenty of work on my boat for me and never had an issue with any work done. Good luck.
Saltwater versus Freshwater Boats
in Open Lake Discussion

Just as add, look boat over carefully. Yes saltwater is harder on boat versus freshwater but a lot has to do with how that boat has been maintained. All boats will have issues if little problems are allowed to become big. Carefully inspect all areas that are not readily visible. Are bilges clean. Is wiring neat and tidy. Look closely at installation of electronic add ons. If you are handy you can wind up with a great boat at a savings.
