I have one installed on my 24' Grady. Gets my speed down to 1.7. Some claim that they have manuverabilty issues but I haven't had that experience. Just need to remember to lift it when done trolling or it can bend depending on type you have.

Yeah. I did the same as you Gator, I didn't strip the wire when it first  goes on spool so I lost the auto stop feature on my cannon. That being said, on the terminal end I stripped a bit of cable and attached my black's release with a thimble and wrapped it with insulated tape. Probe goes to bottom of release then weight with "break away cable."

What kind of rigger you using first off?

Tried doing the same on my boat with two Lowrance units even at two different frequencies and still had bad screens. Had to shut sonar function off on one and use it soley as a GPS.

You gonna put you riggers on pedestals? Be careful when its a little rough out. You can go over those rails pretty easy.

Those 4 strokes are heavy. Alot of older boats are not designed for them.

Was hitting the lakers in 140 fow of the plant with cowbells and a peanut. Kings were out deeper but I never made there before the blow started. Good luck.

You may have to change out the thru hull fitting as they do deteriorate over time. Had to change all of mine on my Grady when I bought it Use plenty of 5200 on them if that is the case.

I would go with 200' as a minimum if your due to replace. 300 would probably be better.

I'm on board with spoonfed. Drink the booze while scraping the old name off. Hopefully you wont have a lot of buffing to do to make the old name disappear.

Had a pretty much identical ride as you did Rolmops , but was able to pick up 2 browns before we switched to lakers. Did have a hit on dr with ff. My youngest lost it after a short battle. A few other releases also. Not many fish marked and not a bait ball found. Back at it first thing in the morning is wheather cooperates a little.

I believe Berts bases are tapped to accept just about any downrigger
