  1. Went 3 for 3 this morning, 2 kings 18 & 21 lbs and a decent laker. All came on the same ff setup, white spinny with green dots and green/silver fly in 135 - 150 fow. Going back out now to see what the evening troll will do. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Thanks for all of the replies. I'm going to put 100' of mono and then the wire and then use the dipsey as resistance to seat the wire good. I will be going up to Lake Ontario out of the Little Salmon River the last week of this month. Hope to hear some of you out there! My boat name is Double Tap and we'll be staying at the lighthouse marina and will have beer on ice the entire week if any wants to stop by! 3. One of my wire rods is in need of new line. When I bought the rods(Shimano Talora with CV 30 D) they were already spooled with 30# Malin. I just got 1000 feet of new Malin 30# 7 strand line and was wondering if I need backing or will the entire spool will fit on the Okuma CV30D reel? Also, when I go to put the line on does it need to be put on super tight like the braids? Thanks, Andy
  4. I hooked it to my multimeter and it showed only millivolts at the connector. I then put the multimeter on the battery itself and it measured 12.4 volts. Not sure what that is about but the plug is new when I bought the unit (it was missing from the box when I got it home). Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I do have a volt meter. I'll check that tonight. I thought I was doing a good thing by putting the grease on the connection, I'll get that out of there and see if that makes a difference as well. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I bought a used Depth Raider two years ago and it had been working fine. I hooked it up for the first time this year last week while on Mexico Bay, and the head unit will not power up. I checked the connection to the batteries and even applied dielectric grease to the plug in the back of the unit all to no avail. Any ideas on what else I could try or is the head unit just shot? Unit is kept in the original box when not in use and stored in my basement during the winter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I'm new to leadcore as well and plan on trying it this spring. So when using the leadcore do I let out all of the leadcore first and attach to the backer or can you attach directly to the leadcore if you want? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Fleet, I love the look and convenience of your setup! So many great suggestions here and so much knowledge that everyone is willing to share with us new comers. That's what makes this such a great forum! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I like Tilemans idea of reel on back and pulley towards front of hardtop. I'm assuming like tlr's setup. I can put a retriever off the back of the cockpit to make it easier we hen putting lines out. After reading Total Chaos' post I checked into stronger reels than the Big Jon and found some by Cisco that look pretty good. Anyone have any experience with the Cisco reels? They're pricey but they look like they are solid. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I have only been fishing Lake Ontario in my own boat for the las two years. Of that time, it has been mostly trolling for Kings in the late summer and fall. I really want to try my luck at spring fishing for steelhead and browns this year as well. My question is, I want to set up planer reels on my boat and was hoping I could get some suggestions on the best way to go about this. My boat is an Aquasport 275 Explorer with a hardtop. Should I clamp reels to the hardtop tubing or get a mast for the front? What reels would be best? I plan on using Amish Outfitter white boards. Any help would be appreciated. 11. Thanks, I had a great time and now i'm hooked so to speak! Good info on the limits. It was a little confusing at first. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. That's good to know thank you guys for clearing that up! Can't wait to get back up there on Thursday! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. There is a limit, I thought it was one King per person per day. So on Sunday I released three of the Kings. That evening I took my catch to Juniors to have them fileted and he told me that you can keep up to three per day. He said that you can keep a combination of three fish per person per day, however you can only have one steelhead. Oh well, I don't honestly know what I would have done with the filets anyway. 14. My girlfriend and I made it up to the motel room on Friday night and got settled in for our first time out on the lake with my own boat on Saturday morning. I launched out of Pine Grove and went out and found the pack of boats trolling over about 160-200 fow. I set up and got my first King on a white glow spin doctor and a green big weenie fly. Landed a 39" 27 pound King 140 down over 170 fow. . Sunday found me back out to the same area to find just as many boats. This time I got away from the pack and went out on my own. I ended up Sunday boating 1 - 37 " & 4 - 38" Kings and one Lake Trout. Two kings were taken on spoons the others were on FF. The Laker came on a FF combo on a dipsie. The weekend couldn't have gone better! I would like to thank everyone who posts on this awesome forum for helping a beginner like me to be able to go out and be successful and have a ball! I'll be back up from 8/22 - 8/24 to try my luck again! Andy Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Thank you all for the welcome. The name on my boat is Tide Runner(it came with it), I will be listening to ch. 68. I hope to hear some of you out there! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
