I was also out there and when we saw it coming we picked up as fast as we could but it was to late I had to drive into it to braddocks marina. Let’s just say I have never been so scared in my life. We got caught in at least 7-9 ft swells in a 21 ft boat and got hit with a water spout in the mix. Said my peice with god for a moment cause I honestly thought I wasn’t going to see my wife and kids again it was that bad. Thankfully my son wasn’t with us because he probably would never go on a boat again after that. Glad everyone out there made it in safe. Here’s a video
Doesn’t open
Glad u made it back

Little update after playing with it the rest of the season… a lot of it had to do with speed ! I was trolling way to slow and not enough rpm to keep me on course .. HUGE shout out to FISHHAWK ( bad probe and different subject)…. But all I can say is their customer service is above and beyond !! after getting probe replaced and trolling almost a full mph faster and catching fish lol holds well and even more so if you deploy the trolling bags and kick up the rpms even more
Works well overall , wouldn’t hesitate recommending

We weathered the storm pretty good - had lots of boat beneath us. No lightning thankfully. When that starts it's time to get out of Dodge.
Been fishing Lake O since 82 and never saw one come up this hard and this fast. The USCG put out a security call about 1 minute before it hit. We were saying we better pull lines and then we were in it almost immediately. Had a full spread with boards, copper, lead and dipseys so it's not a quick deal to get back into cruise mode so we rode it out.

Yes we pulled about 2 min to late … Saw water start getting pulled off the surface up toward the sky and that was enough for me then the wind pushed my boat like it was a toy … glad I witnessed it and it was beautifully scary lol

That Pic takes me back to when I was 12 in a 14'er with my dad out of Fairhaven when we said to each other....thats a weird cloud. Needless to say we learned what that brings.
Yikes I wouldn’t even wanna think about that I’m almost certain this front would have thrown a 14 ft lol

If you can find them the okuma convector rods in 7.5 or 8 ft ml are pretty nice I use them for browns and kings all year

Making up some trolling flies and wondering if anyone has the recipe for the A-TOM-MIK Mooneye fly. It looks like standard cut black, possibly crinkle green, but not sure of the other colors. Thanks
Post a pic , not familiar with a lot of them

We have done it ... it works well some days
We make a bigger 5” fly and put a Twinkie/ teaser fly in between the fly and a big 11-12” paddle and stretch the leader to 40-45” from the paddle , seems to work better end of July -sept for some reason

How rough and how bad is the over correction?..asking as interested putting something like that on a fishmaster 196. I have to believe some is nature of the beast and to some extent variable turning (within reason) is goos for fishing but not if it messes with your trolling spread of course.

To the point if I had a full spread out I’d be worried about board lines and divers touching . But I also have not played with settings yet ... I just push standby and straighten it out manually then engage again .

Quick update I went with the Garmin reactor 40 linked to a garmin 7610xsv , overall happy need to play with it a little works great in calm conditions, only negative is if wind is blowing and catches bow it over corrects itself over and over again and has a hard time leveling off but that might be the nature of the beast.

Highly recommend had a shifting gremlin after my rebuilt bravo 1x was installed by a different repair shop that did not seem interested in sorting it out. Called bill he was honest and upfront , arrived on time and a few adjustments later shifts brand new . Fair , honest, knowledgeable and punctual... rare these days I wouldn’t hesitate to call him again
