  1. all 3 of my Lowrance Elite units came with BaSe maps for quite a few bodies of water pre-loaded plus the Navionics Gold SD.actually find the Lowrance maps to be more accurate on certain bodies of water but the Hudson is not one of them. It has Hudson River maps but the Navionics ones are more accurate. Hope this helps

  2. hey guys. not a report but seemed like the best place to put this. long story short used to fish out of the genny in rochewter quite a bit but moved away from the big lake and am now in the Adirondacks. I'm looking at coming out there next Tuesday or Wednesday depending on which one has the better forecast And since it is my closest launch this is where I will be fishing not driving all the way to Rochester. with that said if there's anybody looking to fish one of those days on my boat which is only a 19 foot aluminum but it's brand new and I have all the toys.just looking to cut my learning curvewhere to fish out there and what structure I got to look out for with the downriggers. I have the GPS but they're not always the most accurate in the areas with a lot of structure. if anybody's interested shoot me a p.m. also wouldn't be opposed to fishing on someone else's boat my first time out there if anybody has an open seat

  3. if you're leaning towards the Showdown I can definitely recommend it.my brother has had his for two years with no problems and my friend has had his for 5 years and had the upgrade to the Dual beam done last year.very easy to use and they work well. the strength and size of the signal is a little hard to interpret sometimes compared to a true flasher but it is a nice compact capable unit. the only negative imo about it is, especially if you fish larger holes, it could quite easily fall down through your hole if anything happened so I would recommend keeping it a good distance away from the holes

  4. I have an elite 5 chirp that has a flasher mode as well as gps. See the classifieds.never used the 5 for ice fishing but when my Marcum went down right before a big trip to the st. Lawrence I rigged up my Elite 4 chirp and used that for the weekend and loved it.it was pretty sweet having GPS.I believe they sell a special ice ducer/ case set up for it.even if mine doesn't interest you its some food for thought.

  5. so I took the maiden voyage yesterday with my brand new Tohatsu 9.8 kicker and right off the bat noticed a pretty annoying high-pitched whine and about 1/4 throttle, right at my RPM range for trolling speed. did a little research and apparently it's a common problem some sort of harmonic distortion at a particular RPM range. I can't imagine I'm the only one on this site who has experienced this , has anyone come up with any solutions for this.sounds like most people just deal with itbut I am not most people. I'm going to call the dealer later today but it sounds like everybody else who has called has been told it is normal and harmless.sounds like an issue that is somewhat common in the Tohatsu Nissans and mercs
