I have 2 lowrance hds units on my boat. One is mounted on the dash and the other is mounted near the back of the boat, connected by an ethernet cable, so that they can share waypoints and transducers. The front unit is usually on the chart screen for navigation and the rear is on the regular fish finder screen. They both have their own transducer but are set up to run off of the same transducer. The second transducer is on there as a backup in case I have an issue with the first one. I like to have backups for everything.

Exactly what i did. Never too much redundancy plus enhanced capability

  2. What is it that you hope to be able to do / accomplish having the two fish finders? See the same view from two different places, run one GPS one fish finder, see two different sonar views? How long is the boat. What existing Hardware is in place as far as transducer switch or anything of that nature?

I would not buy a new Lund. Take a look at Hewescraft aluminum boats, Way more boat for the same hard earned money.  It is worth the drive to Erie Marine in OH to pick one up. Talk to Brian there and trust me- I looked at Lund and went with the Hewescraft and drove from NH to pick it up!

The die-hard Lund guys aren't going to stand for this..lol. get the popcorn ready cuz this threads about to get interesting.

Hewescraft will definitely be my next boat they are sweet but do they even make one in the size range this gentleman is looking for

  4. Hey Keith, I think you're only logical solution might be to get a bigger boat. No but seriously what I do when I go out and I need to take a bunch of extra gear cuz I'm doing a multi-species trip or something to that effect is I have a Coleman cooler that is basically modified to be a tackle Locker for Plano boxes and such. Eats up deck space but it's dry and easily removable

  5. I personally use the kota japanese. Search sharpening steel and it is the first result. Very efficient, a little coarse to start but breaks in quickly. Have one on the boat, one in kitchen at home and one in my work knife kit. Use my knives every day and have never had to use a sharpening stone or one of the above devices. The worksharp system is awesome but pricey and for your stated purpose not necessary
