  1. I know you said you didn't want to use "wire" but possibly the incredibly thin but strong TITANIUM wire? If it is a big pike they are pretty territorial so may be close in same area as before  to be specifically fished for.

Now that you mention that it's happened twice in one area and twice in another area... That's a good idea... I didn't even think about it being the same one to be honest

  2. use at least 80lbs fluoro and tie main line directly to fluoro via uni to uni knot. I'd go at least 8-10" in length for the leader since it sounds like the head of the bait is getting smashed a majority of the time. Good luck!

Thank you for the tip! I'm going to try it next time I go... Hopefully I'll be posting a pic of me with a large pike!

  3. So I've taken to throwing XD-20's for large Bass and have had good success... But I am literally pulling my hair out and here's why... So... Every so often I do a cast and feel either a series of small taps and then suddenly the line goes slack... I set the hook in the slack and then proceed to reel in just line... This has happened about three times now in one 100 yard stretch of shoreline... Everytime the line is broken between 4 and 10 inches above the knot and the lure floats back up... There has never been any fray in the line just a clean cut. I had finally gotten myself convinced that I was just getting cut by zebra mussels until today... Today I was out at a spot where the lure wasn't even close to the bottom and I felt a similar thing... Line went slack very suddenly... I set the hook on the slack and felt something for a split second and then bam! No lure... The difference this time was that the lure never floated back up which leads me to believe that it's in the mouth of mr.northern... these have all happened in I-Bay where I have personally seen big pike. I'm using 40 lbs braid straight to the lure... My questions are... Does this sound like the doing of a pike? And if so how do I solves this and finally land the SOB? I hate using wire because it basically eliminates catching Bass... I have 30lb flouro and 50 lb mono that I'm thinking of for leaders and am also thinking about buying 80 lb flouro... Please everybody... Please help me before I pull all of my hair out!

  4. 1503002252637.jpg got my first cobia 2 days ago! Didn't even have my pin rig out yet. I had live bait just dangling in the water while I set my anchor... Suddenly a few clicks of drag went... I though it was the bait but then realized my bait was half dead and that the line was going out to sea! Still have a week and a half down here and I'm hoping for more!

  5. Went out 3 weeks ago. I would cast straight out and get sunfish... After dark. Buddy literally is casting inches from same spot I am... Pulls out bullhead... Could be distance between hooks, leader length, sinker weight... Could be a patch of sea weed they approach and use for cover... Fish are weird.

It's maddening lol... We made everything identical and it's up to 10 for my 1.... It is what it is though... At least we're catching

  6. I've been out catfishing now twice with my friends and we've been killing them... Or rather, he's been killing them... We are using the exact same set ups, and the exact same weight yet he is catching 5 for every 1 I catch! Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm almost convinced it's some sort of smell on my hands or something
